Three Falun Gong Practitioners from Shouguang City, Shandong Province, Detained and Tortured

Between April 15th and 20th, officers from Shangkou Township Police Station and the Shouguang Domestic Security Brigade arrested seven Falun Gong practitioners from Shangkou Township, Shouguang City, Shandong Province. Currently, three of them—Ms. Zhang Shuyun, Ms. Wang Xinlan, and Ms. Zhang Huiyun—have been detained in the Shouguang Detention Centre and subjected to cruel torture such as being bound to an iron chair.

On around April 15th, Ms. Zhang Shuyun, who is about 45 years old, from Dongti Village, Shangkou Township, Shouguang City, was followed by police officers from Shouguang and was then arrested and detained in the Danyaoku Brainwashing Centre.

Afterwards, people from the Shouguang Domestic Security Brigade arrested Mr. Zhang Huiliang and his wife, Ms. Zhang Huiyun, as well as Ms. Wang Xinlan from Luben Village. Two days later, Mr. Li's family members handed over cash in exchange for Mr. Li's release.

On April 17th, officers from the Shangkou Township Police Station teamed up with people from the Shouguang Domestic Security Brigade. They broke into Ms. Wang Xinlan's hardware store, where they confiscated one laptop, two printers, ink cartridges, and other personal belongings. Ms. Wang's mother is 83 years old and is now home alone with nobody to take care of her. Ms. Wang also has two young daughters, one 15 and the other eight.

Also arrested from Shangkou Township were: Mr. Cheng Yutian, 70, from Shangkou Village, who was released two days after being detained, and Ms. Lin Yunying, 65, also from Shangkou Village, who was released one day after being detained.

On around April 20th, a female practitioner about 65 years old from Shouguang was at the Shouguang Vegetable Fair distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong when police officers arrested her. She was only released after officials extorted money from her family.

At present, Ms. Zhang Shuyun, Ms. Wang Xinlan, and Ms. Zhang Huiyun are still being held in the Shouguang Detention Centre. All of them have been bound to an iron chair. Guards have tortured Ms. Wang in an iron chair for six days in a row. Guards have also tried to coerce the practitioners to curse Falun Gong and its founder.
