Several Practitioners from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province Secretly Imprisoned

Zhaoyuan City 610 Office officials (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shandong Province, together with other local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials, sent five practitioners to Jinan Women’s Prison on April 12th. The practitioners included Ms. Song Guihua, Ms. Yang Lanxiang, Ms. Diao Yunying, Ms. Fang Cuirong, and Ms. Yang Wenjie. The whereabouts of practitioners Ms. Kao Fuquan and Ms. Teng Yingfen are unknown.

Zhaoyuan officials held two secret court hearings for the above seven practitioners on December 5th and December 21st, 2010. They prohibited defence attorneys from attending the hearings and did not allow family members to come, either. The practitioners were sentenced to imprisonment with terms ranging from four to eight years.

Officials began to arrest these practitioners beginning on May 8th, 2010. Song Shaochang and Li Jianguang, among others, brutally tortured them at the brainwashing centre that they were sent to. Ms. Kao Fuquan was healthy before the arrest. After the torture, however, she was diagnosed with various illnesses at Linglong Town Hospital and Zhaoyuan Hospital, including severe heart disease, high blood pressure, cervical spondylosis, and cholecystitis. Despite Ms. Kao’s poor condition, Zhaoyuan Court officials still sentenced her to eight years of imprisonment. The detention centre officials refused to accept her due to her poor physical condition. Therefore, in order to avoid her death during detention, Zhaoyuan police officials planned to release her under residential surveillance by Mengzhi Town police. However, local 610 Office head Liu Shuju did not agree and insisted on taking Ms. Kao to a brainwashing centre and detaining her separately from other practitioners.

Zhaoyuan 610 Office officials have prohibited Ms. Kao’s family from visiting her since her arrest on May 8th, 2010. After receiving a second arrest order this April, presumably as a mechanism to hold her for a longer period of time, her family went to the brainwashing centre and requested a visit. However, they were told that Ms. Kao had been transferred to the detention centre. When they travelled to the detention centre, they were again told that she had been transferred.

After asking around for a long time, the practitioners’ families were told that five practitioners had been secretly sent to Jinan Women’s Prison on April 12th, 2011. The five practitioners included Ms. Song Guihua, Ms. Yang Lanxiang, Ms. Diao Yunying, Ms. Fang Cuirong, and Ms. Yang Wenjie. The whereabouts of practitioners Ms. Kao Fuquan and Ms. Teng Yingfen are still unknown.

It was said that in addition to Ms. Kao, several others of these seven practitioners had symptoms of heart disease as a result of the torture, including Ms. Yang Wenjie, Ms. Yang Lanxiang, Ms. Diao Yunying, and Ms. Fang Cuirong.
