On May 12th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Suoxian was arrested by local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) personnel and taken to the brainwashing centre near Boquan Farm. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Wang has been arrested many times. The following is the sequence of the arrests.
Wang Suoxian started practising Falun Gong in 1993. Before cultivating Falun Gong, she had serious arthritis and other health problems. After practising, her physical ailments disappeared.
At the end of 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested and her hands were handcuffed behind her back. She was beaten while being transported in the police vehicle because she refused to tell them her name or cooperate with the police.
In early 2000, Wang Suoxian was forcibly taken to the Weather Bureau Brainwashing Centre at Dongxihu, where she was detained in a room and guarded by two inmates at all times. They tried to make her write a “statement of repentance,” saying that she wouldn't be allowed to go home unless she wrote the statement. Some of the persecutors in the Weather Bureau Brainwashing Centre were Fan Yi, former chief of the brainwashing centre, Lin Zhengxing, current chief of Dongxi Lake personnel department, and Huang Yanfei, team leader of Disciplinary Department of the Finance Bureau. While they were held in captivity, all of the detainees were automatically charged 40 yuan1 a day.
In February 2000, Wang Suoxian was transferred to the Textile Factory Brainwashing Centre, where she was kept alone in a room, wasn't allowed to communicate with other Falun Gong practitioners, and was watched over by inmates. At this centre the “lessons” contained nothing but slander of Falun Gong. Practitioners were required to write an acknowledgment and understanding every day.
In December 2000, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) set up a brainwashing centre in Dongxi Lake. Wang Suoxian was also sent there. She went on hunger strikes several times to protest the illegal, cruel treatment that she was subjected to. Six months later, some agents of the CCP extorted 2000 yuan from her family.
In October 2002, she was arrested again and sent to the Sandian Brainwashing Centre, where she was forced to stand facing a wall for 24 hours a day. She wasn't allowed to sleep, sit down, or even crouch down. The guards threatened to send her to Xinjiang province or a labour camp. Under this kind of inhumane physical and mental persecution, she wrote a “guarantee statement” to renounce practising Falun Gong against her conscience. She was released and sent home a month later.
In March 2004, Wang Xuoxian was arrested and taken to the Sandian Brainwashing Centre, where she was again forced to stand and not allowed to sleep, to coerce her into writing another “guarantee” that she would give up Falun Gong cultivation. When she cried out loud, the guard kicked her in the legs, causing such pain that her whole body trembled.
On October 12th, 2007 at about 9 a.m., Liu Gongping, assistant police chief, along with five others from the Xincun police station, stormed into Wang Suoxian's home. They hauled her from the fifth floor to the ground floor, and stuffed her into a waiting police vehicle. She was detained for almost a month, and even after she was released, the neighbourhood committee and personnel from her workplace kept harassing her.
