Ms. Yi Shuling, 42 years old, is a former teacher at the Experimental Middle School in Mengyin County, Shandong Province. She has stayed away from home for many years to avoid the persecution. When Ms. Yi went to Mengyin County Hospital on March 4th to take care of her cancer-patient father she was arrested. The next day she was sent to Linyi Detention Centre and was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour a month later.
Ms. Yi was sent to the Shandong Province Second Women’s Forced Labour Camp on April 8th. While there, someone put sleeping pills and unknown substances into her food. Ms. Yi decided to go on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
Because she became very weak, 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agent Wang Wei from the Mengyin Police Department returned Ms. Yi to Mengyin County on April 26th.
Ms. Yi continued to be persecuted at the brainwashing centre. She decided to once again pursue a hunger strike because perpetrators at the brainwashing centre also put unknown drugs in her food. Fang Simin and others from the county 610 Office force-fed her and tied her hands to both sides of a bed and her feet to the other end of the bed. When the family visited Ms. Yi for the first time they found her to be extremely weak.
The perpetrators at the 610 Office were afraid of taking any responsibility and notified the family on May 15th to pick Ms. Yi up.
Ms. Yi was detained twice. The first time she was sentenced to a forced labour camp for three years where she was deprived of sleep. Unknown drugs were put in her food. She was not allowed to use the restroom. Her mouth was covered with tape or cloth; she was hung up, tied up and force-fed. She was also tied up to the Death Bed1. Later on she was sent to a mental hospital.
Ms. Yi tried to avoid arrest by 610 Office agents on October 29th, 2005 by jumping off the 6th floor of a building. She sustained a severe spinal fracture, and had been in exile since then. As mentioned above, her latest arrest happened on March 4th. She is now now barely alive due to persecution.
Note
1. "Death Bed" torture: A practitioner is tied to a bed with his hands handcuffed above his head to the bed rails, and his legs tied with thin nylon ropes. The rope is then tightly wrapped around the practitioner's body and the bed, from his legs to his chest. The rope is wrapped so tightly that the practitioner has difficulty breathing and eventually loses consciousness.
