Mr. Chen Guotao, a Falun Gong practitioner from Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province, was arrested by the chief of the Domestic Security Division, Li Wei, and the head of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Feng Dongchang, on April 26th, 2011. He is currently detained in the Liaozhong County Detention Centre. Practitioner Ms. Chen Min was arrested on November 19th, 2010 and was sentenced to three years in prison. She is currently being persecuted in Zaohua Detention Centre in Shenyang City.
Chen Guotao Has Been Held In Liaozhong County Detention Centre for Nearly Three Months
Mr. Chen Guotao, 49 years old, is a mechanic for Leqianli Auto Repairs in Liaozhong County. He was arrested by the head of the Domestic Security Division, Li Wei, and the head of the 610 Office, Feng Dongchang, on April 26th, 2011. He is currently detained in the Liaozhong County Detention Centre.
Mr. Chen used to suffer from a severe case of rheumatoid which made it impossible for him to move his neck, straighten his back or lift his arms. He also suffered from heart disease and could not sleep at night due to severe pain. It was impossible for him to do any type of housework.
In 1996, Mr. Chen started practising Falun Gong. He eliminate all of his bad habits such as gambling, smoking and drinking, and all of his illnesses were cured. He works diligently and has a very good reputation at work.
On April 25th, 2011, head of the Domestic Security Division, Li Wei, and the head of the 610 Office, Feng Dongchang and several others went to Mr. Chen's company. Under the collaboration of the company leaders, they took Chen Guotao away. They subsequently went to his home and confiscated a DVD and three Falun Gong books. Mr. Chen's home was turned into a mess.
Because Mr. Chen's father is seriously ill, his family dared not tell him the news that his son was arrested and detained. Chen Guotao is a very filial son and often returns home to visit his parents. After not seeing his son for such a long time, Mr. Chen's father had a relapse of his old illness.
Mr. Chen provided the sole financial support for his family, as his wife does not have a job. His daughter is distraught.
High School Teacher Ms. Chen Min Sentenced to Three Years
Ms. Chen Min, 46, is an English teacher at Liujianfang School in Liaozhong County. She was arrested on November 19th, 2010 while talking to people about Falun Gong and the persecution on the street. The police subsequently went to her home and confiscated Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and many personal items in addition to her computer. She was deprived of her wages by the Human Resources and Finance Departments. Ms. Chen has been sentenced to three years and is currently held at Zaohua Detention Centre in Shenyang City.
Ms. Chen Min used to suffer from more than 20 physical problems including heart disease, asthma, cervical spondylosis and serious gynaecological illnesses. After she started practising Falun Gong, all of her illnesses disappeared. At work, she treats her students like her own children. For four consecutive years, Ms. Chen gave up the opportunity for promotion to rank of Senior Teacher, so that her colleagues could advance instead.
Such a good person was sent to Zaohua Detention Centre. Officers from the Shenyang Police Department went to her school to investigate her. The school principal told the police, “Chen is the best teacher in our school. She takes the most responsibility for her students. Everyone knows that she is the nicest person.”
On March 22nd, 2011, the Liaozhong County Court held a trial for Ms. Chen Min and she was unjustly sentenced to three years.
