Doctor Zhang Qianying Detained for Nearly Two Years in Beijing Women's Prison

Under the control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) a Beijing court sentenced practitioner Ms. Zhang Qianying to prison for talking to people about the truth of Falun Gong. In 2009, Ms. Zhang was incarcerated at the first ward in Beijing Women's Prison.

Because she continued to keep up her belief and practice of Falun Gong, she was treated harshly by the prison staff. Li Xiaona, warden of the first ward, instigated the inmates to maltreat Ms. Zhang by depriving her of sleep for many days, forbidding her to shower or brush her teeth, even restricting her use of the toilet.

At the same time, the inmates cursed at her every day. As a result of the maltreatment, Ms. Zhang became extremely thin and felt depressed. Her hair has turned white.

Later, Ms. Zhang and another practitioner named Xu Na were transferred to the fourth ward, where they continued to be mistreated.

Currently, she is in the eighth ward, whose warden is Zhang Haina.
