Mr. Wang Zhige was arrested at his home on July 28th. Zhang Yingduo, head of the Yilan County Domestic Security Division, and four officers from the police department of the Harbin City Gas Company, broke into Mr. Wang's home and arrested him. At the time, Mr. Wang was sleeping after working the night shift. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, mobile phone, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. Mr. Wang is currently being held in the Yilan County Detention Centre.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Mr. Wang has been detained and mistreated during the past twelve years. In 2005, he was tortured and force-fed by the Fangzheng County police, which resulted in blindness in his left eye. He later served three years in prison and was tortured in many different ways.

While Mr. Wang was on his way to his parents' house in Fangzheng County on March 27th, 2005, he was arrested by a group of officers from the Fangzheng Domestic Security Division in Heilongjiang Province, led by deputy head Weng Hongbing. The police later ransacked his home and confiscated two computers, a printer and other personal belongings. Chou Yongsheng, head of the Fangzheng Domestic Security Division, took possession of a laptop computer, a new watch and 200 yuan1 cash.

Mr. Wang was taken to the Fangzheng Police Department where Chou Yongsheng, Weng Hongbing, Dong Yansong and other officers interrogated him for a long time. The police deprived him of sleep, slapped his face, and handcuffed him onto two poles on opposite sides of a bed.

Mr. Wang was later transferred to the Fangzheng County No. 1 Detention Centre. The guards tied him to a metal chair and force-fed him. The substance entered his trachea and he instantly lost consciousness. The brutality of the officials caused blindness in his left eye and the dislocation of his spine. His right fingers remained swollen, painful and numb, and he has lost all sensation in them. Mr. Wang looked horrible: half of his face was covered with bandages, a tube was in his nose, his arms and legs were chained together, and he was unconscious.

Mr. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison. He was taken to Hulan Prison on June 22nd, 2005. The guards and some inmates tortured him. They pinned him to the ground and tortured him by pushing, and twisting his arms to the back with his legs up. They forced him to stand for twelve hours a day for ten days and to sit on a small stool which was only one inch wide. They brutally beat and kicked him and attempted to force him to renounce his belief.

Mr. Wang was released in 2008 after he finished a three year term in prison. The Harbin City Gas Company authorities demanded that he write a guarantee statement or else he would be fired.
