Ms. Xie Hong is a Falun Gong practitioner who lives in Hefei City, Anhui Province. On June 24th, 2011, the police broke into her home around 8:30 p.m., searched it, and arrested her. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Xie, 38, worked at the Sipailou branch of Jianshi Bank in Hefei City. She started to practise Falun Gong in 1996 and dramatically improved physically and mentally. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, she has been arrested and detained several times.
In December 2000, her father was diagnosed with late stage cancer and needed an urgent operation. At that time, Ms. Xie was pregnant. Her mother, Tian Zhongfeng, was in a forced labour camp because of practicing Falun Gong. Her aunt, Tian Zhongxia (her mother's younger sister), often came to take care of her and her father. Ms. Tian is also a practitioner, and was taking risks to take care of them, as she is on the wanted list.
In April 2001, when Ms. Xie's son was only four months old, she was deceived by people in the Hongxinglu Residential Committee, and was sent to the Luyang District Brainwashing Centre. (Dai, head of the Luyang District Politics and Law Committee, was mainly responsible for her case.) Xie Hong was not allowed to breast-feed her baby. Due to the extreme pressure, her husband wanted to divorce her.
Ms. Xie was subjected to brainwashing constantly in the brainwashing centre. She was pushed beyond her limit, which caused her to mentally break down. However, she was still being detained and was given drugs. When she was released several months later, she was so weak that she didn't even have the strength to hold her baby in her arms.
Ms. Xie was arrested again on September 11th, 2002. She was ordered to register her son's birth with the Tuanjiexinchun Residential Committee. When she arrived, officers from the Xishi District Police Branch arrested her and took her to a brainwashing session in Xinhua Guest House. Her husband was threatened so that he would cooperate with the police and put pressure on her. Under extreme pressure, he divorced her when their son was just over a year old.
Ms. Xie's son also suffered quite a bit at such a young age. In early March 2004, his grandmother, Tian Zhongfeng, was putting him to bed when a group of people broke into the home and wanted to take her away. When she held onto the door frame to keep from being taken, they started to strip off her trousers. While she was trying to keep her trousers on, they carried her away, but in the end her trousers were torn off.
Ms. Tian Zhongfeng, Ms. Xie's mother, was sentenced to one year of forced labour in late 2007 for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong on the way to the farmers' market.
Ms. Xie was arrested on the morning of March 4th, 2008. A bag full of leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong was found in her possession. She was first detained for 15 days and was then sent to a brainwashing session in Xinye Guest House. She was later sentenced to one year of forced labour.
Ms. Tian Zhongxia, Ms. Xie's aunt, was arrested in November 2008. She was first sent to a forced brainwashing session and was later subjected to 18 months of forced labour.
Following Ms. Xie Hong's arrest on June 24th, 2011, her mother Tian Zhongfeng was arrested at home on June 26th, by officers from Yiminjiedao Police Station. Her son, only 10 years old, was left on his own, frightened, and lonely.
Ms. Xie also was also persecuted financially. For years, no matter how hard she worked, she was paid only one tenth of the salary that others received. She was told that it was ordered by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Since her salary was insufficient to support her son and herself, in March 2011, she decided to go to another city to look for a job. When she returned home in May because she missed her family, she was arrested at home on June 24th by Hefei City police.
Now Ms. Xie's whereabouts are unknown. Her 10-year-old son misses his mother and wants her to come home. Please help this mother and her son.
