Details of the Persecution of Falun Gong Ms. Zhou Xiuli from Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province

Ms. Zhou Xiuli from the Nancha District in Yichun City was arrested on June 16th by Nancha District 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Wang Yuhui, Yao Fengjun, and He Wei; Nancha District Political and Judiciary Committee head Ma Jianlin; and community Party secretary Liu Jingfen. She was detained in a brainwashing centre for 23 days. During her detention, her daughter was taken to a brainwashing centre twice and was detained for 10 days.

Ms. Zhou has been persecuted and tortured numerous times by the communist regime because she refuses to give up the practice of Falun Gong. The following is her personal account:

My name is Zhou Xiuli. I am 44 years old and a housewife living in the Nancha District.

In my 20s I was seriously injured in a traffic accident, and my periosteum and sternum were separated. Every day I suffered severe pain. I could not sleep well and I frequently woke up from bad dreams because of the pain. I couldn’t do anything, even housework. In 1998 when I was 31, I fortunately started practising Falun Gong. Soon after , all my illnesses disappeared and I fully recovered.

On April 28th, 2002, I was arrested and taken to the Lianhe Police Station in the Nancha District by eight officers, including Wang Jun and Zhan Hongyu from the Lianhe Police Station and Li Xuemin from the Nancha District Police Department. Around 8:00 p.m., I was transferred to the Nancha District Police Department, where I was brutally tortured. The police tied me to an iron chair and handcuffed my arms behind it. I remained there for two nights and one day. Later I was detained in the Nancha District Detention Centre for four months and was sentenced to three years in the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.

After I was released, Nancha District officials often came to my home and harassed me, especially on sensitive dates. Once, several officers from the Yichun City 610 Office and Nancha District 610 Office agent He Wei and officer Liu Yanlong went to my mother's home to search for me. My mother was 67 years old and in poor health. She was extremely frightened by the police, and due to the stress, she developed a heart problem.

On June 16th, 2011, I was selling meat as usual in my brother’s butcher shop. Nancha District 610 Office agents Wang Yuhui, Yao Fengjun, and He Wei; Nancha District Political and Judiciary Committee head Ma Jianlin; and community Party secretary Liu Jingfen suddenly showed up and attempted to arrest me. Although I tried my best to resist, Wang Yuhui and Yao Fengjun dragged me to their car.

I was taken to the Yichun City Brainwashing Centre, located at the former site of Yichun City Hall. While in the brainwashing centre, I was forced to watch the programmes that slandered Falun Gong. Collaborator (former practitioner, brainwashed against Falun Gong, made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners) Wang Jinfeng from the Xilin District, Yichun City, 34, compelled me to listen to her read books that slandered Falun Gong. Political head Wang Changhua threatened me, saying that if I didn’t write the Three Statements to renounce practising Falun Gong, I would be sentenced.

My daughter had just finished her college entrance exam, an important time in her life. However, in order to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] me, the evildoers took her to the brainwashing centre twice and detained her for 10 days. I was detained for 23 days in the brainwashing centre.
