Ms. Hu Zhenru, from the Luhe District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, was recently sentenced to one year of forced labour. Ms. You Bo, who is Ms. Hu's daughter, was held at a brainwashing centre. Ms. Hu's family was trying to safeguard their legal rights by means of the law. Officer Zhou Guoyi threatened Ms. Hu's husband, “We will punish harshly whoever hires a lawyer!”
On July 7th, 2011, officer Zhou Guoyi from the Dachang Town Police Sub-Bureau, officer Xiao Ningjian from Nanjing Domestic Security Team, and officers from the Xiejiadian Police Station went to Ms. You Bo's workplace, the Nanjing Chemical Machinery Factory, and attempted to arrest her. Ms. You's father did all he could to stop the arrest, however the police went to Ms. You's workplace again on July 29th and arrested her at work.
When Ms. You's mother, Ms. Hu Zhenru, who is also a practitioner, went to her daughter's workplace around August 10th, and tried to talk with the factory authorities regarding her daughter's arrest, she was arrested. Ms. Hu was recently sentenced to one year of forced labour. This is the third time she has been sent to a forced labour camp. The first two times she was held at the Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province, where she was brutally tortured and her term was extended.
The police attempted to send Ms. You Bo to a forced labour camp too. Ms. You's father did his best to stop them. Ms. You is currently being held at a brainwashing centre.
Ms. Hu wanted to resist the persecution by means of the law, and she had already had a meeting with a lawyer. When she was sent to forced labour the previous time, her family hired a lawyer for her. However, officer Zhou Guoyi and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) obstructed it with deception. This time, Zhou Guoyi threatened Ms. Hu's husband, “We will administer heavy punishment to whoever hires a lawyer!” Ms. Hu's husband and the lawyer are thus hesitant to seek legal measures.
