Persecutors at the Laishui County Communist Party School, Hebei Province Continue Detaining Falun Gong Practitioners

The persecutors from the Laishui County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Hebei Province have again detained and attempted to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners at the County Party School. The practitioners include Ms. Qiu Yuelan from Chenjiazhuang, Shiting Township, Ms. Xu Xiuhua, Ms. Song Xiangrui, Mr. Qu Haisheng from Shiting Village, Ms. Han Fengqin, a practitioner from Loucunxiang, Laishui County, and a practitioner with the last name of Zhang from Shizhuang Village. The practitioners were released on September 16th.

Three plainclothes police officers (one of them with the last name of Xiao) suddenly broke into Ms. Qiu Yuelan's home at 1:30 p.m. on September 13th. She was arrested and taken to the Laishui County Communist Party School. Ms. Song Xiangrui and Ms. Xu Xiuhua were also arrested at the same time. The same afternoon, Mr. Qu Haishen, 39, from Shiting Village, and Ms. Han Fengqin were also arrested and taken to the party school.

The staff in the brainwashing centre came from the Laishui Judicial Bureau, Cultural Bureau, Education Bureau, and Local Tax Bureau. They were on duty day and night. They forced practitioners to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. They also arrested members of the practitioners' families, forcing them to “help” the persecutors “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] the practitioners. Ms. Song Xiangrui's husband and sister-in-law were arrested and taken to the brainwashing centre.

Ms. Qiu Yuelan had high blood pressure symptoms on September 16th and went into a coma. Because the persecutors were afraid of being held responsible for the consequences, they sent her to the emergency room. The doctors there said Ms. Qiu needed an electrocardiograph examination. The persecutors did not wish to cover the medical expense, so they decided to send Ms. Qiu back to the party school. They attempted to force-feed Ms. Qiu drugs after they returned to the school, but Ms. Qiu refused to open her mouth, and her blood pressure remained high. Ms. Qiu's husband took her home at 5:00 p.m. on September 16th. Since the persecution began in July 1999, Ms. Qiu has been detained multiple times at the Laishui County Detention Centre and arrested and taken to the Laishui County Party School several times for brainwashing and persecution.

Multiple brainwashing sessions have been held at the party school since April 2000. Each time, the county government assembled staff from different departments to persecute practitioners. The severe mistreatment resulted in many practitioners becoming injured or disabled. Practitioners were also sent to the Hebei Province Forced Labour Camp and Prison. According to inside information, the strategy is now to implement the persecution on a town by town basis. The brainwashing sessions will last until the end of October, and it is said that there are over 50 practitioners on the blacklist, targeted for persecution.
