Ms. Zhang Guixia, Ms. Qu Guiying and Ms. Li Honglan are Falun Gong practitioners from Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Over the past ten years, they have been arrested and sentenced to forced labour several times. Their families have also suffered great pain. On March 9th, 2011 Ms. Qu Guiying, Ms. Zhang Guixia, and Ms. Huang Yaguang were again arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. This time, Ms. Zhang Guixia and Ms. Qu Guiying were sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Li Honglan was detained.
I. Ms. Zhang Guixia Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ms. Zhang Guixia, 48, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. She has been persecuted several times because of her firm conviction in Falun Gong.
On March 9th, 2011 at noon, Ms. Qu Guiying, Ms. Zhang Guixia and Ms. Huang Yaguang were arrested by Li Yingcai while they were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They are currently serving their four-year sentence at Fushun Nangou Detention Centre. They have been in prison for more than half a year. Their families only recently discovered the length of the sentences, since the court had not notified them. Ms. Zhang Guixia insisted on making a court appeal. She has been on hunger strike since August 31st, and is now very weak.
Ms. Zhang Guixia had been sentenced to three years of forced labour in 2002, and detained in Liaoning Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Because of her firm belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and her outspoken protests against the detention and torture, she suffered inhumane treatment. Two years later, she was transferred to Dalian Labour Camp. After Dalian Labour Camp was shut down, Ms. Zhang Guixia was transferred back to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
By the end of 2004, Ms. Zhang Guixia had been tortured severely and had become emaciated and weak. While she was in prison, her family worried about her non-stop due to the inhumane treatment she received. Her father-in-law died, her mother-in-law fell ill, her husband sought help everywhere and her only child missed her very much and became depressed.
II. Ms. Qu Guiying Sentenced to Four Year Prison Term
Ms. Qu Guiying has been detained in Fushun Nangou Detention Centre for more than half a year. Her family only recently discovered that she had been given a four year prison term. Ms. Qu Guiying is currently attempting to appeal the court's decision.
Ms. Qu Guiying has been persecuted several times because of her firm belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. In 2000, Ms. Qu Guiying went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong, but was later sentenced to three years of forced labour. She suffered severe torture in Fushun Wujiapu Forced Labour Camp.
On September 6th, 2006, Ms. Qu Guiying clarified the truth about Falun Gong on a bus, and was followed by Liu Hongsheng, a policeman from Xinbin County Muqi Town Police Station. Li Hongsheng and Wang Haiwei arrested Ms. Qu and took her to Xinbin County Detention Centre. Later they took her to Liaoning Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, where she was sentenced to two years of forced labour and suffered inhumane torture.
On May 26th, 2009, Ms. Qu Guiying was arrested by local police while she was distributing Falun Gong materials at Xiangshuihe Village, Xinbin County. She was released the same day, and went home that night.
III. Ms. Li Honglan Detained in Fushun Nangou Detention Centre
On the afternoon of January 22nd, 2011, Ms. Li Honglan, a practitioner from Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was arrested by local police while she was telling people the truth about Falun Gong at Wudaogou Village, Hongmiaozi Township. Later she was detained in Fushun Nangou Detention Centre.
On or about July 2010, Ms. Li Honglan was sentenced to four years of forced labour by Xinbin County Court in a secret trial. Later she was imprisoned in Liaoning Province Women's Prison.
Ms. Li Honglan has appealed for the right to practise Falun Gong many times. Since July 20th, 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, she has been to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result of her brave actions, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour and later persecuted in Liaoning Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
On December 30th, 2009 in the Chinese Lunar New Year, Ms. Li Honglan was sentenced to three years of forced labour and taken to Fushun Labour Camp.
In 2003 and 2005, she was arrested and forcefully taken to Fushun Luotai Village Brainwashing Centre.
Now Ms. Li Honglan's family and relatives are very worried about her, but they were helpless.
