Mr. Zheng Fengxiang from Jilin Province Physically Abused and Tortured in Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Fengxiang, from Jilin City was arrested on July 3rd, 2007 by officers from the Changjiang Road Police Station. He was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment in November 2008. During his imprisonment at Gongzhuling Prison, Mr. Zheng was subjected to various methods of torture. In early 2010, he was seriously mistreated and contracted tuberculosis. As a result, at one point he was in critical condition and was taken to the prison clinic.

Mr. Zheng's prison term expired on July 1st, 2011, but instead of releasing him, Jilin City 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) took him directly from the prison to a brainwashing facility for a week.

The following is an account of the persecution Mr. Zheng was subjected to in Gongzhuling Prison:

On April 1st, 2009, Mr. Zheng was put in the “New Arrivals Monitoring Team.” The guards forced Mr. Zheng to stand in the same position for a week, and each day he was made to stand at all times except when eating, sleeping or using the toilet.

In late May 2009, when Mr. Zheng was transferred to Ward No. 5, guard Zong Mingjun shocked him with an electric baton. He didn't stop torturing Mr. Zheng until symptoms of a previous heart problem recurred.

Several days later, Pang Linwu, head of Team No. 1 of Ward No. 5, shocked Mr. Zheng again with an electric baton, and physically abused and mistreated him. Pang then picked up a steel wire brush and scraped Mr. Zheng's arms with it, causing them to bleed heavily. The torture lasted from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Pang finally placed Mr. Zheng into a solitary confinement cell.

On June 3rd, Pang Linwu shocked Mr. Zheng with electric baton once again, and threatened, “I'll abuse you once a day, until you are released.” Pang and Yin Yuhui shocked Mr. Zheng with electric batons again the next day, and before leaving he threatened to “come again” the next day.

On April 9th, 2011, when Ward No. 5 head Yu Laiquan came to a workshop and saw Mr. Zheng refusing to do hard labour, he ordered Mr. Zheng to his office, and shocked him with an electric baton. Two inmates held Mr. Zheng down to the ground and beat him until Mr. Zheng's heart started to malfunction again.

On July 1st, Mr. Zheng should have been released, but Gongzhuling Prison guard Zong Mingjun, along with a Jilin City 610 Office agent, took him directly to a brainwashing facility in Shahezi, Jilin City, where Mr. Zheng was held for a week until July 7th when his family took him home.
