Mr. Wang Shengli, almost 80 years old, is a former Propaganda Department Head in Fuyang City, Anhui Province. He has been detained for nearly one year and is facing an unjust sentence. He was once sentenced to four years in 2004.
Mr. Wang used to be an assistant of a Falun Gong practice site in Fuyang City. After first beginning to practise Falun Gong he experienced significant improvements to his health and character. Those who knew him could see the changes and were thus impressed with Falun Gong.
After Jiang Zemin, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime started to persecute practitioners in 1999, Mr. Wang was subjected to numerous mistreatments. Agents from Anhui Province State Security Bureau, Fuyang City State Security Bureau, and local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) went to his home in November 2002. They ransacked his home and took away more than 100,000 yuan1 in cash. The agents also took Mr. Wang to Fuyang City Detention Centre and kept him there. His two daughters, Ms. Wang Gehong and Ms. Wang Gehua, were also arrested and later kept at the Fuyang City Detention Centre.
Agents from Fuyang City 610 Office and Fuyang Police Department arrested Mr. Wang again at home on April 10th, 2003, and kept him at the Fuyang Detention Centre. The agents also arrested Ms. Wang Gehong again.
After Mr. Wang and Ms. Wang Gehong were kept at the Fuyang Detention Centre for 10 months (which exceeded their detention term), Yingzhou District Court sentenced them on February 10th, 2004, to four years and three years, respectively. The court followed the instructions of the Fuyang City 610 Office agents in the sentencing.
When Mr. Wang was released, his employer cut off his pension. The family had to live on his wife's pension. She was paralysed and bedridden. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials ordered him to write a statement giving up his practice before he could resume his pension, but he refused.
When Mr. Wang went to Linquan County to meet with other practitioners on December 6th, 2010, he and eight Linquan practitioners including Ms. Ma Yuling were arrested. The arrest was made by officials from both Fuyang City and Linquan County. Mr. Wang has been detained for nearly one year.
Procuratorate officials fabricated charges against four practitioners including Mr. Wang, Ms. Ma Yuling, Ms. Yuan Xiaoqiong, and Ms. Yu Zuzhi. It was said that Linquan Court officials planned to sentence these practitioners in the morning on November 16th, 2011.
Many practitioners were detained, fined, brainwashed, and imprisoned in Fuyang District. Mr. Wang's story is just one example.
