On January 4th, 2011, police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Muzhi outside of the building where her elder brother lives. Later, she was sentenced by the Helong Court to four and a half years in prison. She is currently incarcerated in Changchun Prison.
Ms. Zheng worked very hard at her job and never complained. She spent her spare time helping her students free of charge. Her reputation among her colleagues, students, and students' parents was very good. However, this good teacher lost her job and became homeless, because she appealed for Falun Gong in Beijing after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
Later, Ms. Zheng had to earn a living on her own. On August 2006, Zhu Jicheng, an officer from the Domestic Security Division, Bajiazi Forestry Bureau Police Office, arrested her at the Beida Supermarket in Yanji City. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour and taken to the notorious Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp of Jilin Province. While in the labour camp, Ms. Zheng refused to cooperate with the officials, so they tied her to the death bed1 for eight days. They did not untie her from the bed even when she had to relieve herself or during her menstrual period. Because she refused to give up her belief, her prison term was extended several times.
On January 4th, 2011, Liu Xiaolong and several other officials from the Bajiazi Forestry Bureau Police Office arrested Ms. Zheng outside of the building where her elder brother lives. They were hiding in a bush and followed Ms. Zheng's son in order to arrest her.
Ms. Zheng was later detained in the Helong Detention Centre. Meanwhile, her husband, Mr. Liu Yubao, was detained in the Yinmaher Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City. Their son, an elementary student, has had to live with his grandmother, who is also taking care of two other grandsons and her husband. Ms. Zheng's family has requested her release, but the CCP secretary of local Political and Judiciary Committee, Zhao Jing, refused out of hand.
It has recently been learned that Ms. Zheng Muzhi has been sentenced by the Helong Court to four and a half years in prison term.
