Two Female Falun Gong Practitioners from Tangshan City Arrested, Three Children Left Without Guardian

On June 9th, an officer from the Public Security Bureau in Tangshan City brought seven public security officers from Luan County with him and together they broke into the apartment of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Fengxian and Ms. Shen Shulan. These people did not wear any uniforms and claimed they needed to verify the practitioners' temporary registration. Thereafter, they arrested these practitioners, who had to leave their three children behind.

When Ms. Shen was trying to find her ID and registration, her phone rang. The ring tone was Falun Gong music. The police then questioned her why she uses such music. Ms. Shen tried to explain the facts about Falun Gong to them, but they did not listen. They searched the house and confiscated Falun Gong books and other items. They then went into Ms. Zhang's room and searched her belongings. They confiscated Ms. Zhang's Falun Gong books and CDs. These officers threatened the practitioners and asked where their children go to school. Their children were terrified. The police officer said that they had come to look for Ms. Zhang's husband, Mr. Zhou Shuquan.

These practitioners where then taken to the Luan County Public Security Building. The policemen said that they belong to the Domestic Security Brigade and told the practitioners they could be released if Mr. Zhou surrenders. Currently, three little girls are living alone in the apartment.

Mr. Zhou is a practitioner and refused to signed a so-called guarantee statement to give up his belief. He was forced to leave home in the autumn of 2002 in order to avoid further persecution. At the time, his child was not even 10 years old and had to live without her parents for three months. Mr. Zhou and his family eventually got together and rented a house. Their financial situation was very tight and their child had problems being accepted at schools because of their registration status.

Six years ago, Mr. Zhou's mother had late stage kidney stone problems. She was unable to metabolize water and her abdomen was severely swollen. A doctor said that she might have three months left to live. Mr. Zhou had his mother listen to Falun Gong lectures for five hours, during which time, she urinated twice and felt better. Her health gradually improved and she no longer needed medicine. Currently, Mr. Zhou's mother is still alive and very healthy. This is one of the miracles of the healing power of Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhou did not want his mother to live alone and with his difficult financial situation, he still managed to have his mother live with him. Unfortunately, when he picked up his mother, the authorities spotted him and tracked him down at his place. He had to escape again and became destitute.

Currently, over 20 Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested. The people who are in charge of their arrest are Liu Xiaozhong, Jia Wenya, and Liu Jianguo.

Liu Xiaozhong is the deputy chief of Tangshan City Public Security Bureau. His cell phone number is +86-13832980008. He often extorted money from the families of arrested practitioners. In December 2011 alone, he extorted more than 10,000 yuan (US$15,000) from practitioners' families.
