Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaodong's younger sister Ms. Wang Xiaomei (registered name is Wang Fengru) from Zhouguantun Village, Fu Township in Hebei Province was sentenced to Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp for one year.
Officials from the public security bureau and Procuratorate in Botou City have also brought charges against Mr. Wang Xiaodong. Mr. Wang's family and friends have hired a lawyer from Beijing to represent him, and are determined to fight against the unjust persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang Xiaodong was arrested by officers from the Botou Domestic Security Division in late February 2012. As a result, his 7-year-old child and 77-year-old mother were left unattended at home. The arrest angered the local villagers, and 300 people from Mr. Wang's village signed a petition urging his release. But instead of releasing Mr. Wang, the police arrested his sister Ms. Wang Xiaomei and took her to a forced labour camp.
Falun Gong practitioner Tang Jianying from Cangzhou was arrested along with Ms. Wang, but returned home on the afternoon of July 6th.
