Ancient Cultivation Stories: A Monk Who Ruined His Cultivation with One Vicious Thought
2003-06-05He knelt down and said, I dont have a bowl for my meal. I dont know what to do without it. I was wondering if you could kindly lend me your bowl for today. I will go to buy a new one tomorrow. The monk refused to lend him his bowl. He replied, I have been using this bowl for several decades. I am afraid that you might accidentally break the bowl if I lend it to you. The novice monk begged, I am only using it for the meal today, and I will promptly return it to you. How can I possibly break it within such a brief period of time while the bowl is in my possession? After repeated pleading, the monk finally agreed to lend the novice monk the bowl. Before he handed the bowl over, he cautioned the novice monk; I treasure this bowl like my own life. If you should damage the bowl, you will really kill me! -

Mysterious Clouds that Shine at Night
2003-06-02Ordinary clouds, which are relatively close to Earth, get their dust from sources like desert wind storms. It's hard to waft wind-blown dust all the way up to the mesosphere, however. "Krakatoa may have seeded the mesosphere with dust in 1883, but that doesn't explain the clouds we see now," notes Thomas. "Perhaps," he speculates, "the source is space itself." -

Discussion On Yin and Yang and Bearing Baby Boys and Girls
2003-06-01The elderly journalist at my previous workplace had just learned some skills during his spare time. However, he was able to tell an embryo's gender at the very earliest stage of pregnancy with just the use of his fingers, whilst western medicine still can't accurately tell the gender to this day. Isn't the elderly mans way of determining a baby's gender more advanced? Perhaps we should think this over carefully. Should we just discard traditional Chinese culture, or should we take a fresh look at ancient Chinese civilisation and culture? -

Correlation between Spreading of SARS and a Sexually Transmitted Disease in China Makes a Point
2003-05-30The distortion of human moral standards contributed to the trends of sexual liberation and casual sex. Those who follow this trend are more subject to STD and, now, in China, SARS. In contrast, those who conduct themselves with a high moral standard in this regard are less subject to SARS. Ancient Chinese medicine also believed in the cause and effect correlation between mans high moral standards and his self-healing ability. -

The Relationship between Practising Falun Gong and the Immunity to SARS
2003-05-29As a pathologist, my profession makes me very concerned about SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Because of my professional habit, I have persistently collected the pathological information on SARS. The available information indicates that corona virus has something to do with SARS. The major pathological change in seriously ill SARS patients is the pervasive damage to their pulmonary alveoli. On clinical manifestation, the failure of respiratory function and their X-ray images are similar to ARDS--Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Here I would like to address the issue from the perspective of the impact of practising Falun Gong on human immune system. -
