  • 610 Office Again Arrests Former Defence Researcher Li Zhigang

    On August 19th, 2011, police hid near the home of Falun Gong practitioner Li Zhigang and his mother in Changsha City, waiting for them. They arrested Li and his mother and that night, Li Zhigang was taken to the Laodaohe brainwashing centre, organized by the Changsha City 610 office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). This is the fourth time that Li Zhigang has been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999.
  • Mr. Xu Zhiyin from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Secretly Sentenced to Five Years of Imprisonment

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Zhiyin was arrested by police from the Tianhe District Domestic Security Division on the night of May 22nd, 2010, and was detained at the Tianhe Detention Centre. In June 2011, Judge Liang Hao from the Tianhe District Court sentenced Mr. Xu to five years of imprisonment without notifying his family or his lawyer. Mr. Xu and his family are currently appealing to the Intermediate Court. Liang Hao has been working with the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to sentence several Falun Gong practitioners and send them to prison.
  • Pharmacist Ms. Wang Zhihong, from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, Taken to Brainwashing Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Zhihong was forcibly taken by staff at her workplace to the brainwashing centre at Shanxi Province Men's Forced Labour Camp in Xindian. It was learned recently that agents from different levels of 610 Offices (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Taiyuan have been persecuting local practitioners. Several retired elderly practitioners were harassed at their homes and some have been forced to leave home to avoid the persecution.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Tortured to Death in 2001 in Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Hunan Province

    Ms. Cao Jingzhen passed away on October 25th, 2001, at the age of only 52 as a result of being tortured in Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was handcuffed behind her back, had her mouth stuffed with dirty socks and sealed with tape, and was punched, kicked, and shocked with electric batons. Ms. Cao protested, saying, “As a human being, you're supposed to have a good heart. How can you mistreat good people like this?” Before she had finished speaking, several guards assaulted her with electric batons so viciously that she passed out.
  • Ms. Yu Yimin Persecuted to Mental Breakdown, Passes Away

    Ms. Yu Yimin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan City, passed away on August 5th. She had been arrested five times, jailed in brainwashing centres three times, and sentenced to one year of forced labour for her belief. In detention, she was injected with unknown drugs, which along with the torture, caused her to suffer a mental breakdown. Ms. Yu was also fired by her company for her belief in Falun Gong. Without financial support, she became homeless and destitute. Her family was torn apart due to the persecution.
  • Ms. Qiao Huarong from Jizhou City, Hebei Province Subjected to Persecution Many Times, Still Imprisoned

    Practitioner Ms. Qiao Huarong is a citizen of Jizhou City, Hebei Province. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Qiao has been detained many times. In November 2008, she was sentenced to four years in prison. Since then, she has been detained at Hebei Women's Prison and subjected to brutal persecution.
  • The Persecution in Guan County, Shandong Province

    There were approximately 10,000 people practising Falun Gong in Guan County, Shandong Province before the persecution started in July 1999. However, since then the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been brutally persecuting practitioners. CCP officials in Guan released an order to terminate 29 practitioners' wages on October 14th, 2000. Six brainwashing centres have been set up by the Guan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) since the persecution started, detaining thousands of practitioners over the years.
  • Eleven Practitioners Arrested in Qixia City, Shandong Province

    Between 5-8 a.m. on August 30th, 2011, officers from Qixia City Police Department, 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Domestic Security Division and local police stations arrested 11 practitioners from the city and surrounding areas, in some cases ransacking their homes. Among the 11 arrested, one elderly practitioner was released that same day, while another practitioner presumed to be arrested is still missing.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cong Peilan from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia Arrested

    Ms. Cong Peilan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia was arrested by local police the night of August 21st. Ms. Cong was forced to leave her home in 2004 to avoid persecution. Because Yuanbaoshan District Domestic Security Division police could not find her, they put her on the national wanted list in 2009. Ms. Cong is currently detained at Yuanbaoshan District Detention Centre.
  • Mr. Zhou Xiangyang's Family Files Lawsuit Against Gangbei Prison

    Mr. Zhou Xiangyang was taken to Gangbei Prison, now called Binhai Prison, on March 5th, 2011. He was tortured by the guards and has been on a hunger strike to protest the persection for more than 160 days. When Mr. Li Xiwang's death at the prion became public and was exposed on the Clearwisdom website Mr. Zhou's family were worried that he would face a similar fate. They then hired lawyers from Beijing and filed a lawsuit against the prison authorities. Two lawyers went to the prison on August 22nd, and requested to see Mr. Zhou. Guards told the lawyers that they had to submit the local police station's certification, verifying that they did not practise Falun Gong themselves. A visit to see Mr. Zhou was not granted.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Xiang Li from Yi County, Liaoning Province Arrested and Persecuted by Police

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xiang Li was arrested and detained on July 21st by Domestic Security officer Feng Weidong and others. During her arrest and detention, Feng Weidong slapped her face several times. The police also bribed a doctor to falsify Ms. Xiang's medical records so she could be transferred to the Jinzhou City Detention Centre. Ms. Xiang has since been released. This was the tenth time that she had been arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel.
  • Mr. Wang Deqian, 60, a Chinese Folk Artist, Still in Jidong Prison for Practising Falun Gong

    Mr. Wang was sentenced to four years in Jidong Prison in 2009 for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong and remains incarcerated to this day. Years of imprisonment have caused Mr. Wang to become very frail. His family has grave concerns about his health. Previously, Mr. Wang was taken to Balizhuang Forced Labour Camp. He was tortured, locked in a small cell for seven days and cuffed on a bed with his arms and legs spread apart. The guards didn't allow him to move one bit, which resulted in excruciating lower back pain, muscle atrophy in his legs, and difficulty walking.
  • Elderly Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Huang Kuixi, Brutally Tortured in a Forced Labour Camp Then Harassed at Home, Died in 2009 as a Result of Abuse While in Custody

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Kuixi was sentenced to forced labour in 2004 and brutally tortured during his detention in Jiutai Forced Labour Camp. Guards forced Mr. Huang to sit on a board for 18 hours a day, from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., during which time if he moved his feet slightly, he would be pressured to write a pledge to give up his practice of Falun Gong. If he refused, he was beaten mercilessly. Mr. Huang was forced to sit on a board for six months. This caused his buttocks to fester, and he even had difficulty taking off his trousers due to pus from the festered area making his trousers stick to his body. During this time, guards burned Mr. Huang with cigarettes four to five times. Mr. Huang passed away on September 23rd, 2009, at the age of 69.
  • Disabled Police Officer Jailed Twice for Holding to His Beliefs

    Jin Chengshan was formerly an officer in the Hulan District Police Department in Harbin. In a car accident in 1996, he sustained a thoracic spine fracture and became paralyzed—a first class disability. Modern medicine could not cure him, but he was introduced to the practice of Falun Gong and experienced great physical and mental benefits. Witnessing his improvements, his wife, Jiao Xiaohua, also started practising Falun Gong. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Jin refused to give up his beliefs and was badly treated on multiple occasions. He was jailed twice, the CCP claiming that Mr. Jin, who could not even walk, “undermined law enforcement” and “disrupted the social order.”
  • Ms. Ba Lijiang Publicly Humiliated in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison

    On June 12th, 2002, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials arrested Ms. Ba Lijiang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province. Later Bi Xu, female, chief judge of the Hailin City Court, sentenced her to a nine-year prison term. In September 2003, Ms. Ba was taken to Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. On February 16th, 2011, Bao Rui, the deputy warden, humiliated Ms. Ba in public by having two guards sit on top of her and cutting her hair down to her scalp.
