  • Ms. Li Li Unjustly Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Inviting People to Observe a Court Procedure

    Ms. Li Li and her husband Mr. Wang Huanzhong were arrested on July 24th, 2012 by police, as they passed out letters inviting local people to attend a court hearing on the case of arrested Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wang Guangwei. Ms. Li's husband was subsequently given a one-year forced labour term, and she herself was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Ms. Li appealed the verdict.
  • Highly Regarded College Teacher Mr. Shen Xuewu Taken into Custody for the Fourth Time

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shen Xuewu was previously unjustly sentenced to three years in prison and has been recently arrested again by police. This is the fourth time that Mr. Shen has been arrested. His current whereabouts are unknown. Previously, in Fanjiatai Prison he was subjected to brutal physical abuse and torture. He was placed in a solitary cell where guards handcuffed his hands behind his back, and put shackles on his feet. Mr. Shen became disabled as a result of beatings, and walked with a limp, but the guards still forced him to do hard labour—pulling bricks.
  • Accounts of Former Guangdong TV Executive and Three Other Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted for Their Beliefs

    Three Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and sent to Tangang Brainwashing Centre in Guangzhou on November 4th. They included Mr. Chen Changrui, former deputy director of the Guangdong TV Chief Editor’s Office, Ms. Peng Lin, an international trading official, and Ms. Gao Suming. In addition, 62-year-old Ms. Jin Jianjun and another female practitioner were also arrested and detained at an unknown location. Previously, Mr. Chen was arrested and held in a forced labour camp for practising Falun Gong.
  • Longkou Court Officials in Shandong Province Unjustly Sentence Five Falun Gong Practitioners

    We recently learned that five practitioners from Longkou City who were arrested on April 11th were unjustly sentenced to 4-9 years of imprisonment bythe Longkou Court. The practitioners were arrested, detained, and sentenced for making Shen Yun Performing Arts CD cases. The highly acclaimed world-renowned show promotes classical Chinese culture. They were detained for nearly eight months before the trial. Their families and supporters were shocked at the news.
  • Older Mr. Wu Mingshan Dies after Repeated Detention and Imprisonment

    Mr. Wu Mingshan, 63, was arrested on March 19th, 2009 while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Xinhua County, Hunan Province. He was later sentenced to four years in prison and was incarcerated and severely abused at the Wumaping Prison. Mr. Wu was released on medical parole in May 2010 when he was on the verge of death. He could not recover his health and died on November 26th, 2012.
  • Sixty-Eight-Year-Old Woman Persecuted Almost to Death In Harbin City

    On January 1st, 2012, 68-year-old Ms. Li Xuejun, who practises Falun Gong, was arrested from her home and taken to the Second Detention Centre by police. On April 25th, the Daowei District Court held a hearing to prosecute Ms. Li Xuejun. Based on recent accounts, it is believed that Ms. Li is in a coma and is hospitalized. Previously, Ms. Li was imprisoned in a forced labour camp for two years because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. She was detained on two other occasions and has been harassed by police on several occasions.
  • Mr. Zheng Xiangxin in Critical Condition from a Severe Head Injury in Baoding Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Xiangxin was arrested on February 25th, 2012 by Domestic Security Unit officers of the Tanghai Police Department. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. Recently, he suffered a severe head injury in Baoding Prison. According to sources, he was taken to a hospital to undergo cranial surgery, and is currently in critical condition. No detailed information is available.
  • Mother Persecuted to Death 12 Years Ago, Daughter Detained Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Zhen was arrested by the local police when she went to visit her friend in Beijing in March 2012. She was sent to the Daxing Women's Forced Labour Camp in Beijing for a two-year term in April 2012. Twelve years ago, Ms. Tan was detained in a forced labour camp for a three-year term for practising Falun Gong. At that time, her mother, Ms. Yu Lianchun, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was tortured to death in a forced labour camp in Shandong Province.
  • Elderly Shenyang Woman Arrested, Tried for Speaking the Truth

    Ms. Wang Guilan, 65 years old, is a resident of Shenyang in Liaoning Province. On April 17th, 2012, she was shopping at the market, and said to some people “Falun Gong is good”. She was then arrested by local police and her home was ransacked. Although the authorities did not find anything incriminating in her home, she is still being detained. Recently, the Tiexi District Court placed her on trial.
  • Trial Ends Hastily When Two Practitioners Try to Expose the Persecution of Falun Gong in Shenyang City Court

    Officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shenyang City worked with officials at the district court to try Ms. Wu Limei and Ms. Dong Huidi on October 18th, 2012. They were charged with “disrupting law enforcement.” Ms. Wu was detained in Shenyang No.1 Detention Centre, where she was brutally tortured and developed symptoms of high blood pressure and heart disease. Ms. Wu Limei's family has been persecuted before because they practise Falun Gong. Several family members have been detained or sent to forced labour camps.
  • Persecution of Elderly Former Senior Engineer from Handan Iron and Steel Group Results in Disability

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qin Zhongke is in his 70s. For the past 13 years, Mr. Qin has been persecuted for his belief and detained in Handan Forced Labour Camp, Dalian Forced Labour Camp, Wujiabao Forced Labour Camp in Fushun City, and Weiningying Forced Labour Camp in Benxi City. Although he was severely tortured in the forced labour camps, Mr. Qin never wavered in his belief in Falun Gong. On July 15th, 2008, Mr. Qin was arrested again and tortured until he lost the ability to take care of himself.
  • After Being Imprisoned for Eight Years and Nearly Paralyzed, Retired Teacher Ms. Liu Yongfen Now Under House Arrest

    Retired teacher Liu Yongfen, 61, has been imprisoned seven times because she practises Falun Gong. On September 19th, 2012, Ms. Liu was sent back to her employer from a forced labour camp. This is the third time that labour camp officials have sent Ms. Liu to her employer to be detained. After prolonged abuse, Ms. Liu's physical condition became very poor. She was nearly paralyzed and emaciated. Despite the fact that she could barely move, Ms. Liu was still placed under house arrest at her former workplace.
  • Ms. Gai Yongjie from Qingyuan County Still Detained after Two Months

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gai Yongjie was taken away from her home by police in the early morning on September 25th, 2012. Her daughter and relatives went to the Fushun Detention Centre several times requesting to visit her, but the detention centre rejected their requests. Ms. Gai's family has not received any information about her. Her daughter is very worried and cries throughout the day.
  • Older Mr. Zhang Jinsheng Dies As a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jinsheng, 62, was arrested before the 2008 Beijing Olympics and sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. Zhang developed stomach cancer in prison in 2010 and was in critical condition as a result of mistreatment from persecution. He was sent home on November 3rd, 2012. Two weeks later, on November 18th, Mr. Zhang passed away.
  • Li Zhiqin's Family Threatened after Filing Complaint Over His Wrongful Death in Police Custody

    Despite brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Mr. Li Zhiqin steadfastly cultivated Falun Gong. In April 2006, he was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. On September 12th, 2007, police officers broke into his apartment and arrested him. Mr. Li died that night in police custody. Over the past five years, Mr. Li’s family has continued to demand an explanation as to cause of his death. Not only did the police refuse to compensate them adequately, but they also threatened the entire family that they would be arrested should they appeal for justice. In July 2012, with no other avenues left to them, the family submitted a letter of complaint to the Ningjin County government. Police have been harassing and threatening the family.
