34-Year-Old Ms. Zhang Mingyi Died as a Result of Brutal Treatment in Zhejiang Women's Prison

Ms. Zhang Mingyi was a Falun Gong practitioner. Seeing that the local people did not know the truth about Falun Gong, she informed people about the persecution and dispelled the state propaganda attacking the practice. Later, people who did not know the truth reported her, and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials made her suffer for more than two years in the Zhejiang Province Women's Prison. Her health deteriorated due to the long term brutal treatment in the prison. She was constantly feverish, and the prison doctor injected some unknown drug into her, causing her to become extremely weak and quickly lose weight. After returning home, the doctor diagnosed her with hemolytic anaemia, hepatitis B and C. She died on August 29th, 2007, at only 34 years old. -
Mr. Xu Kai Unable to Walk as Result of Torture at the Hands of Police from the Cangzhou City National Security Division and the Handan Forced Labour Camp
2007-12-08Mr. Xu Kai is from Cangzhou City in Hebei Province. On November 12th, 2007, his family went to the Handan City Forced Labour Camp to see him. He was very healthy and strong before his arrest. However, two guards had to physically support him during his family's visit. His facial expression appeared sluggish, and his face had obviously become disfigured. He could not raise his arms, nor did he have the strength to talk. He seemed to have lost much weight. He told the family that he had pain in his head. The two guards kept staring at Mr. Xu in an intimidating way, as if they were afraid he would speak out about the tortures he had been subjected to. -
Ms. Li Guiqing from Tonghua City in Jilin Province Tortured
2007-12-08Ms. Li Guiqing , 53-years-old, was originally imprisoned in the Changchun City Women's Forced Labour Camp for practising Falun Gong. In June 2000, Ms. Guiqing went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result she was arrested and detained in the Tonghua City Detention Centre for over a month and later sentenced to one year of forced labour. In the sixth team of the Changchun City Women's Forced Labour Camp, Captain Liu Ying and two other captains once shocked Ms. Guiqing with electric batons, beat her brutally, tried to coerce her into giving up her practice of Falun Gong, and forced her to do hard labour. -
Torture Tactics Used by Hongzehu Prison to Abuse Practitioners
2007-12-08Captain Han Bushun of the New Detainee's Team in the third ward, together with political instructor Jiang Zhaoyuan and deputy political instructor Du Hongjun, instigate criminal inmates to threaten, physically punish, beat, and curse the newly detained practitioners. Sometimes they do it themselves. For instance, in February 2005, Han Bushun baited over 20 inmates with bonus points to beat practitioners from Lianyungang City. After the beatings, he ordered the inmates to drag the practitioners' bodies on the ground and run to cut and wound them all over. -
Graduate of Changchun Postal College Song Changguang Persecuted to Death in 2003
2007-12-07Mr. Song Changguan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested because he displayed a banner on Tiananmen Square. He was sent to Changchun's Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp. The conditions were totally disgusting and unsanitary there. Scabies spread throughout the entire labour camp. The perpetrators used hard wooden boards and plastic to beat the practitioners. Song Changguang was one of the worst cases. He had generalised infection, and scabies which covered 60% of his body. He had pus-filled blisters all over his body. Song Changguang was extremely malnourished and severely anaemic. On July 22nd, 2002, Fu Guohua saw that Song Changguang was dying and did not want him to die in labour camp, so he was sent home. Song Changguang's family took him to hospital for treatment, but it was too late. He passed away on November 12th 2003. -
Mr. Li Zhanwu in Serious Condition from Abuse in Jilin Prison

58-year-old Mr. Li Zhanwu was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment in Jilin prison in 2002. In December 2005, he fell in a toilet, suffered a concussion, and could not move. He was foaming at the mouth and unconscious. The prison authorities called his family and sent him to hospital for treatment. When his family went to visit him at the hospital, they found him emaciated and confined to bed. Mr. Li has been persecuted so severely that he now has symptoms of cerebral thrombosis and cardiac disease. He is confined to bed and cannot care for himself. -
Ms. Zhuang Yanhong, a Teacher from the Beijing University of Technology, Arrested for the Sixth Time and Sentenced to Forced Labour

On September 11th, 2007, Ms. Zhuang Yanhong, a teacher from the Beijing University of Technology, was arrested for the sixth time. After her arrest, she was detained in the Fengtai District Detention Centre in Beijing. Even the police who arrested Ms. Zhunag stated that there was no incriminating evidence to arrest her. Ms. Zhuang was arrested while her students sat in the classroom waiting for her. Ms. Zhuang's parents requested a lawyer be present for legal consultation, however, the police did not allow a lawyer to meet with her. -
Mr. Zhang Yongjun from Rongchang County, Chongqing Municipality Sentenced to Nine and a Half Years in Prison
2007-12-07Mr. Zhang Yongjun, 35, was arrested several times because he spoke out for justice for Falun Gong and distributed leaflets exposing the persecution. In June 2007 he was arrested again. While he was detained at the Lezhi County Detention Centre, Mr. Zhang went on a one-month hunger strike to protest the persecution. He subsequently became extremely weak. Although he is 5' 6" tall, his weight fell to 88 lbs. On October 26th, 2007, the Lezhi County court broke the law by failing to disclose the court date to Mr. Zhang's family. The court sentenced Mr. Zhang to nine and a half years in prison. On November 13th, Mr. Zhang was taken to the Wumaping Prison in Muchuan County, Leshan City. -
Older Mr. Zhao Fei Paralysed From Being Tortured in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2007-12-06On September 24th, Mr. Zhao Fei, a 53 year-old practitioner, was taken to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. He refused to cooperate with the unjust demands and spoke out for justice for Falun Gong. Male director Gao locked Mr. Zhao in a small cell and tormented him. He bound Mr. Zhao to an "iron chair" for more than 15 days. Moreover, the guards hit him with an electric baton and beat him violently. As a result, both of Mr. Zhao's legs became desensitised and paralysed. When he was in the canteen, the guards often connived and incited criminal inmates to drag Mr. Zhao around. After being dragged down the stairs and over the pebbled ground, it caused his legs and feet to bleed. -
The Persecution I Experienced and Witnessed in the Tianjin Women's Prison
2007-12-06Detained in the Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin City, Ms. Wang Wenqing went on a hunger strike in protest. When her weight dropped from 60 kg to 20 kg, she was released for medical treatment. I witnessed the guards alternately torture, intimidate, and cajole her. The Fourth Prison is a notorious "model prison" in China. The persecution of practitioners there is among the most severe and brutal. To persecute Ms. Wang, for example, prison captain Li Hong boasted, "I will never let your weight drop below 20 kilos. I will fill you up with water, so that you weigh above 50 kilos." Ms. Wang was force-fed with watery flour soup. They often inserted a hard, thick 2-metre-long feeding tube into her stomach. Her stomach often bled as a result. The large amount of water poured into her stomach gave Ms. Wang excruciating stomachache. -
Ms. Li Cuiping Persecuted in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province
2007-12-06Ms. Li Cuiping learned Falun Gong in 2000 whilst held in the detention centre on other charges. She has been detained at Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp for 15 months. After arriving at the camp, Ms. Li spoke out for justice for Falun Gong. They beat her and shocked her mouth with an electric baton. Later they took her to a room and placed her on a door plank. Wire restraints were fixed on either side of the plank. They placed her hands in the wire and bound her to the plank. They also took off her shoes and socks, squeezed her socks into her mouth, and connected her two forefingers to a power source. There was a square box next to her. Whenever they touched the box, she would be shocked into unbearable suffering. -
Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Guards Order Prisoners to Continuously Torture Practitioner Mr. Zhao Jian
2007-12-06On September 21st, 2007, thirteen practitioners were sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. On October 12th, practitioner Mr. Zhao Jian refused to work as a slave labourer. Zhang (male), one of the camp supervisors ordered two prisoners to trample on his legs in order to force him to kneel, but Mr. Zhao firmly resisted. The same scenario was repeated four or five times and finally, some of the guards told other prisoners to take away most of Mr. Zhao's clothes, leaving only one outer garment. Mr. Zhao was forced to work in a corn field without appropriate clothing, although it was extremely cold. At night, the guards told thirty prisoners to make sure Mr. Zhao would give up his belief in Falun Dafa. He was forced to work until midnight for two days. -
Appeal to Rescue Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Han Chonghui, from Panjin City
2007-12-05Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Han Chonghui has been detained and persecuted by the local police for eight years. In June 2003, he was arrested by police was beaten and held in the detention centre. Han Chonghui escaped after 12 days. He had 4,100 yuan in his pocket when he was arrested, but that money was taken by the policemen, as were his mobile phone and his car. This property hasn't been returned to him. On October 20th, 2007, Mr. Han went to Shenyang on business and he was arrested again. The police took ten thousand yuan from him. The police again detained Han Chonghui in the city detention centre and then sent him to a brainwashing centre in Fushun for persecution. Han Chonghui has been holding a hunger strike to protest his detention and persecution. He is in critical condition. -
Suzhou Prison in Anhui Province Forces Falun Gong Practitioners to Do Hard Labour
2007-12-05Suzhou Prison in Anhui Province is known as Huateng Company. To outsiders, it advertises itself for foreign trade processing jobs. Falun Gong practitioners who are detained there are forced to make clothes in the prison. The workload is very heavy and the work hours are very long. Normally, practitioners have to start work every morning at 6:00 a.m. and work until after 11:00 p.m. Sometimes the work hours are extended even longer. The practitioners are tortured if they do not work or do not reach the production goals. -
The Persecution of Ms. Shi Yun and Her Husband, Mr. Jiang Yuliu, in Kunming City
2007-12-05Ms. Shi Yun and Mr. Jiang Yuliu are teachers. They individually wrote public letters to their school and Education Commission in June 2004, telling of the immense mental and physical improvements they experienced after they began practising Falun Gong. They pointed out in particular that it was wrong to persecute Falun Gong and they hoped that their colleagues and supervisors could understand the truth of the situation. In July 2004, the police and school leaders deceived Mr. Jiang Yuliu and took him to Dapingba No. 2 Forced Labour Camp. His pregnant wife, Ms. Shi Yun, went from one place to another, campaigning for his cause. Ms. Shi had to care for the newborn alone and went through a long and difficult two years and seven months. On September 30th, 2007, the police arrested Ms. Shi and took her to the detention centre.
