• Mr. Xiong Jinze from Changsha City, Hunan Province, Has Been Missing for Over Ten Days

  On October 31st, Mr. Xiong Jinze, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changsha City, Hunan Province, went out on business and never returned home. His family called his mobile phone many times but there was no answer. His wife carried their 23-month-old baby all over the place to look for him. There is still no news of his whereabouts. His family is greatly concerned about his strange disappearance and think it might relate to Changsha City's 610 Office, the local police, or the National Security systems, because these organisations had been harassing him.

• 67-Year-Old Mr. Qi Tingsong Was Persecuted to Death at the Laiwu Detention Centre in Shandong Province

  Mr. Qi Tingsong, a a 67-year-old retired teacher and practitioner, was tortured to death at Laiwu Detention Centre within only 20 days of his arrest. On October 15th, when Mr. Qi was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in a village, he was arrested by police. Mr. Qi refused to cooperate with them and held a hunger strike to protest. Police officers savagely force-fed Mr. Qi. They kicked his lower back and seriously injured him. His upper digestive system was seriously injured from the force-feeding, resulting in severe bleeding. He was taken to the hospital on November 5th, and on November 6th, the Laiwu City Hospital issued a notice stating that he was in critical condition. He died shortly afterwards.

• Mr. Sun Depo Weak, Emaciated, and Disoriented from Torture in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

  Mr. Sun Depo, a practitioner, is being held in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. He has been force-fed, beaten, hung by handcuffs, and tortured with other means. Now he is very weak and thin. He often has no feeling in his limbs, his eyes hurt, his reactions are slow, and he appears to be in a daze. In January 2007, police officers took Mr. Sun to the medical office in the forced labour camp, handcuffed his arms behind the chair and inserted a tube into his nose. The two stomped on the handcuffs with their feet for a long time, causing the already weakened Mr. Sun to pass out from the pain. From February 12th through 16th, 2007, Li Gongmin force-fed Mr. Sun once each day.

• Ms. Shi Xiangdong, from the Shijiazhuang City Religious Affairs Bureau, and Her Husband, Mr. Liu Xin, Imprisoned for Practising Falun Gong

  On April 29th, 2007, Ms. Shi Xiangdong, a 37-year-old civil servant attended a work meeting that was hosted by Wu Xianguo, Party Secretary of the Shijiazhuang Party Committee. After the meeting, Shi Xiangdong kindly reminded Wu Xianguo that the things he said about Falun Gong at the meeting were wrong and would damage his reputation. As soon as Wu discovered that Ms. Shi was a Falun Gong practitioner, a few plainclothes officers emerged, and pushed Shi Xiangdong to the ground, then forcibly took her to a detention centre. The police also later arrested her husband, Mr. Liu Xin, when he went to visit her. Their home was also ransacked. On November 9th, the family was notified that Ms. Shi Xiangdong had been sentenced to three years of imprisonment, and her husband was sentenced to five years in prison.

• Brutal Abuse in Dehui City Detention Centre in Jilin Province

  On September 20th, 2007, police officers broke into practitioner Mr. Jiang Lide's home. They detained Mr. Jiang in the Dehui City Detention Centre. He started a hunger strike to protest his detention and persecution and to petition for his release. Ordered by the detention centre director, guards, and doctors, Liu and Yu brutally force-fed Mr. Jiang. A large quantity of salt was added to the force-feeding solution and Mr. Jiang's mouth and cheeks were injured while being force-fed. One of his upper front teeth was knocked out. Mr. Jiang was very weak and he suffered from leg injuries incurred during a previous beating. A criminal inmate kicked Mr. Jiang in the lower back very hard. Much later a hospital diagnosed Mr. Jiang with a fractured lower back. Mr. Jiang is currently in a very weak condition and is bedridden from fractures to his legs.

• Police from the Wuhan City Police Department Intentionally Hit a Falun Gong Practitioner with a Car, Arrested Him and Sent Him to a Forced Labour Camp

  On August 22nd, 2007, at an intersection along the Qiaokou section of Jinghan Avenue, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, a car deliberately knocked a motorcycle rider to the ground while turning into the road from Jinghan Ave. A man, later known to be surnamed Kang, came out of the car and grabbed the victim. That man and several others knocked the victim to the ground and then arrested him. The arrested man was 32-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Min Changchun. Upon arriving at the labour camp, the guards only read to him a notice, saying that his forced labour term would be one and half years to January 21st, 2009, and declared without evidence that he had "obstructed the execution of the law." Mr. Min asked them, "I was going to work like normal. Why do you beat me, arrest me and sentence me without due cause?" All they said was, "You know the reason."

• Police in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province Extort Money and Valuables from Practitioners

  Since August 2006, Lingyuan City Police Department have committed over 20 arrests, seizures of personal property, and extortions from Falun Gong practitioners. More than 70 practitioners were personally affected. More than 40 practitioners suffered direct losses of totalling over 346,000 Yuan in cash. Family members of the arrested and harassed Falun Gong practitioners were squeezed for money for their efforts to rescue their loved ones. They were forced to deplete their savings, and some were forced to borrow money. Wang Guilin was the most unscrupulous. He demanded money from and coerced practitioners and their family members directly.

  Ms. Wang Chunyan, a respected entrepreneur from Dalian province and the deputy general manager of Dalian Kanglai International Freight Company, has been repeatedly persecuted for practising Falun Gong. She was arrested and is currently in detention. The police beat her husband resulting in a deep laceration to his skull and he died in hospital. Her daughter has been separated from her mother now for more than 70 days.

  As the 17th Chinese Communist Party National Congress began, Ningxia 610 Office agents reopened a brainwashing facility that had been closed for more than three years. To enable the authorities to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners, they resorted to the most despicable and sinister means. They resorted to fraud, coercion, threats and other outrageous means to arrest practitioners. Practitioners Mr. Ma Zhiwu and Mr. Zheng Yongxin were sentenced to six years in Guyuan Prison. • The Persecution of Mr. Yan Hequan and Mr. Shi Wenshui in Laishui County, Hebei Province

  For refusing to give up Falun Dafa, on August 27th, 2002, Mr. Yan Hequan, 45, was forcibly arrested by a group of policemen. Mr. Yan was imprisoned in a detention centre. In the detention centre, the evildoers attempted to extort a confession from Mr. Yan by means of torture. He was handcuffed and forced to sit on a "tiger bench" for a long period of time. In the autumn of 2002, he was unlawfully sentenced to an 11-year imprisonment term by the court. Because of their financial hardship, their eldest daughter, 17, was forced to drop out school and get a job away from their home.

• Elementary School Teacher Ms. Qi Yunping Faces an Unjust Jail Sentence

  Ms. Qi Yunping is a teacher at Sujima Elementary School, Haixing County of Hebei Province. The police there, led by the head of the county social security division, Wang Minghao, arrested Qi Yunping at her home on July 23rd, 2007. They ransacked her home and took away her PC, printer, and other items. During the whole process, the police didn't show any legal papers. It is said that the case is currently handed over to the court, and the procuratorate and courts are trying to sentence her to jail. Her 13-year-old son is left at home alone.

• Songyuan City National Security Team in Jilin Province Interrogates Practitioners Using Torture and Ransacks Their Homes

  On October 13th, 2007, the Songyuan City National Security Team arrested practitioners Mr. Xu Yangang, leaving his wife and several-month-old baby alone at home. His wife could not live in the ransacked home. Police had also broken the window. She went with the baby to her parents' home. When she returned after a little more than a few days, all their personal belongings, including furniture, had been stolen. According to her landlord, the police stole everything. The landlord then terminated her lease. Mr. Xu's wife could do nothing in face of this reprehensible behaviour on the part of the police.

• Jilin City Police Officers Attempt to Drug a Falun Gong Practitioner

  Ms. Li Yan (pseudonym), a 36-year-old Falun Gong practitioner was arrested on November 13th, 2003. During the interrogation, they confiscated Ms. Li's personal belongings, including an expensive watch and jewellery and a bank book. A policeman sat Ms. Li on a metal chair and handcuffed both her feet tightly to the chair. Then he asked her if she wanted to eat. Yu Haitao opened a can of rice porridge and turned his back to Ms. Li so that she couldn't see what he was doing. Yu Haitao then turned back to face Ms. Li, stirred the rice porridge with a spoon a couple of times, and told her to eat. Ms. Li spotted a small empty paper bag, the same size as a sugar bag. Ms. Li told them she wasn't hungry and didn't want to eat.

  I am a 75-year-old woman. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, I have been imprisoned twice because I refused to renounce or give up the practice. Just because I refuse to give up my belief in Falun Gong and I want to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance to become a better person, the Chinese Communist regime plans to sentence me to seven years in prison. Let me ask a question: Which country in the world has this type of law?! Does any article in the Chinese Constitution justify such treatment? I am now forced to leave my home and go into hiding. Nevertheless, my family, relatives and friends continue to suffer from severe harassment by the police.

• Persecution Destroys Family of Xuyong County Practitioner Ms. Li Yunsheng

  Sixty-year-old Ms. Li Yunsheng began practising Falun Dafa with her husband Mr. Gan Zongji in 1997. Public Security authorities frequently broke into Li's home to harass the couple, and took over the house many times. They also closely monitored them, controlling everything including the mail and attempted to force them to "transform," and give up the practice by threatening to eliminate their source of income. Ms. Li's husband suffered a mental collapse, became seriously ill, and passed away in October 2003. The police attempted to arrest Ms. Li and take her to the Public Security Bureau. Li was forced to leave her mother and little girl, and is homeless.
