• Details of At Least 60 Practitioners in the Shijiazhuang Area Arrested Over the Past Six Months

  Since the beginning of 2004, persecutors in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei province, have escalated their persecution of Dafa practitioners. The persecutors include the "610 Office" of Shijiazhuang City and surrounding counties and towns, Political and Security Subsections, all police sub-departments within Shijiazhuang City and public security bureaus, procuratorial bureaus and people's courts of the nearby towns and counties. They trail practitioners, appoint people to keep practitioners' homes under surveillance and arrest them. Over 60 Dafa practitioners were arrested, of which 2 were sentenced to jail terms, and several others were sent to forced labour camps.

• Police Brutality in Jinan City: Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Guo Piling Suffers Three Severed Tendons in Her Hand While being Arrested

  On March 3, 2004, several Falun Dafa practitioners in Shandong Province were reported to the police while distributing truth-clarifying materials and posting Falun Gong posters. About eight policemen came to arrest five female Falun Dafa practitioners. Dafa practitioner Ms. Guo Piling, refused to cooperate during the unlawful arrest. Four policemen seized her arms and legs and forcibly pushed her into the backseat of a police car. When the police slammed the door shut, the door hit and injured Ms. Guo's hand.

• Hospital Security Workers Abduct Doctor, Police Beat A Friend Who Comes to Her Aid

  Ms. Wang Qihui is a retired doctor from the Chinese Medical Hospital in Yunnan Province. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, the police and work unit have had her under surveillance. On holidays or so-called sensitive days, hospital security workers would take her and detain her in the hospital. In 2002, she was taken to Kunming Mental Hospital and suffered brutal torture physically and mentally during the so-called "treatment."

• Practitioner Li Jiangang, Is Abducted Right Before His Wedding

  Mr. Li Jiangang of Shandong Province, was abducted a few days before his wedding. On April 24, 2004, while driving, he was suddenly stopped and apprehended by Weifang National Security agents. The next morning police attempted to abduct his fiancee and her mother. Fortunately they escaped. The wedding money that they had saved and put aside was taken when the National Security policemen ransacked the apartment.

  Falun Dafa Practitioner Diao Xihui is twenty-nine years old. His wife, Lu Yanna, is thirty-one years old. They are from Longkou City and are both teachers. Their first child was born on March 29, 2004 and only ten days later Diao Xihui disappeared, presumed arrested for telling people about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Realizing that she was in danger, and not having recovered from giving birth Lu Yanna moved out to avoid further persecution. However, she did not escape. Police from Longkou City found her and took her and her daughter back to Longkou City even though her daughter was not even one month old. At present, no one knows where Ms. Lu is.

• The Authorities Arrest Two Sisters; their Mother Dies of a Heart Attack Brought on From Worry and Grief

  In January of 2004, police officers in Handan City, Hebei Province arrested Ms. Tang Hui, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Handan. Upon witnessing both of her daughters being dragged into the police vehicles, Li Lunhui was extremely worried and very upset. Soon Li and her husband went together to the office of An Zhenzhi, the person responsible for arresting her daughters. The couple insisted that they be permitted to visit their daughters, but were refused. Having learned that her daughters were being tortured while in custody, Ms. Li became extremely upset. She suffered a sudden, massive heart attack, and died at 6:30 a.m., March 30, 2004. In such a short period of time, a happy family was torn apart by tragedy as a result of the persecution.

• Beijing Police Create "National Guard Team" to Implement State-Terrorist Tactics Against Dafa Practitioners

  The police stations in all districts and counties of Beijing maintain a team of people -- the National Guard Team -- whose job is to constantly monitor Falun Gong practitioners. This team organizes and scouts for opportunities to abduct practitioners and ruthlessly strikes whenever they are given the order. In parts of the countryside, this team has climbed over walls and entered windows to raid homes and abduct Falun Gong practitioners. The team was especially active around the Party's 16th Congress, when Jiang Zemin's regime issued a secret order whereby all districts and counties were required to arrest Falun Gong practitioners.

  "One day in April, when I walked by the Grain Bureau Building, a scene unfolding in front of a clothing store caused me to stop. I saw four or five men gathered around a woman; one man grabbed her with one hand and threw her down from the top of a flight of stairs. Such ruthless and violent behaviour dumfounded me. Upon taking a closer look, I found that the man was policeman Zhao Baoming, out of uniform, followed closely by two more plain-clothed policemen. The three of them dragged that woman into a van. She struggled hard, all the while shouting, "I practise Falun Gong. I am a good person. This is persecution!""

• Shandong Province "Anti Evil Religion Reconnaissance Military Unit." Seize Teacher at School

  Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Depeng was very kind and outstanding in his work as a teacher. However, on the afternoon of January 2, 2004 around 4 o'clock, while he was teaching his class, he was seized by Captain Xu Guangrong from the Zhucheng City's police task force known as the "Anti Evil Religion Reconnaissance Military Unit." Captain Xu Guangrong searched his desk, took his computer from his office and detained him giving the reason that Yang had typed, "Falun Dafa is great" on his computer. Yang was detained for a month. Police forced his family to pay 3,000 yuan before he was released.

  According to sources inside a police department on April 5, 2004, within the following few days there was going to be a five-day period of nation-wide arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Between the end of March 2004 to early April, it was known throughout Huludao City that about ten Falun Dafa practitioners suddenly disappeared. On the night of March 31, 2004, Dafa practitioners who had left their homes to avoid the persecution had their temporary residences ransacked by the police.

  On March 14, 2004, Zhao Qingzhe and other police officers from the Liaohe Oil Field Police Department jumped out of a car, and without warning, chased and shot at Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Qunpeng while he was on his way to work. Fortunately, officer Zhao missed his target. He shouted, "Let me break his legs!" At the local police station an officer threatened "We could sentence you and send you to a labour camp because you shouted 'Falun Dafa is great'.

  On May 10, 2000, because of distributing truth-clarification flyers, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zen Fanchun was arrested by Chief Officer Zheng Aimin. Zheng Aimin lied to the surrounding people, saying, "Zen Fanchun prints anti-revolutionary flyers." When Mr. Zen's father, sister-in-law and wife came to the police station to bring food to him, some practitioners were about to be sent to the county detention centre, and they protested against this. Zen's father was thrown to the floor and badly beaten.

• Mass Arrest of Falun Dafa Practitioners Underway in Huanggang City

  On March 11, 2004 about 200 Falun Dafa practitioners from Huanggang City attended the memorial service for Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Zhong, who died as a result of persecution. On March 13 some practitioners were arrested. The practitioners from Huanggang City consider the arrests part of a new round of persecution. The head of the first division of the Huanggang Police City Bureau, Zhou Yuhua appeared to "persuade" the work units of the practitioners to present a wreath for Zheng Zhong. He also said there would be no arrests this time. But the memorial service was barely over when police began arresting practitioners again. Could the arrests be coincidental?
