Guangdong Province Practitioner Li Shengyu Sentenced to Five Years

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Shengyu was arrested by police in 2011. They failed to arrest Mr. Li’s wife, Ye Henglian. The incident forced Ms. Ye to leave home for an extended time in order to avoid police harassment. In a secret trial in March 2012, Mr. Li was sentenced to five years and subsequently transferred to Yangjiang Prison. When Mr. Li’s daughter and two sisters finally saw him, Mr. Li was very emaciated and weak, and he had to walk by holding onto the wall to keep from falling. -
Ms. Xia Haizhen and Mr. Luo Jiaolong from Shanghai Face Unjust Court Hearing
2013-01-04Ms. Xia Haizhen and Mr. Luo Jiaolong, Falun Gong practitioners from Shanghai, have been imprisoned for over six months. The Baoshan District Court deceived them in order to get evidence and scheduled a hearing for November 28th. The court attempted to try them secretly on October 11th. Their families learned on October 10th, that the hearing was scheduled for the next day. The hearing was postponed after their families presented reasonable arguments in their favour. The court also created many difficulties for the defending attorneys. -
Owner of Painting and Calligraphy Store in Lanzhou Arrested, Store Contents Confiscated
2013-01-04On October 27th, Mr. He Jianzhong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Lanzhou, was arrested at his painting and calligraphy store by police. The police took a bank deposit and cash amounting to over 10,000 yuan, and clients' calligraphy and paintings. These items still haven't been returned. Mr. He is locked up at the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre. His family was denied visitation rights. -
Ms. Li Li Unjustly Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Inviting People to Observe a Court Procedure
2013-01-04Ms. Li Li and her husband Mr. Wang Huanzhong were arrested on July 24th, 2012 by police, as they passed out letters inviting local people to attend a court hearing on the case of arrested Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wang Guangwei. Ms. Li's husband was subsequently given a one-year forced labour term, and she herself was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Ms. Li appealed the verdict. -
Longkou Court Officials in Shandong Province Unjustly Sentence Five Falun Gong Practitioners
2013-01-04We recently learned that five practitioners from Longkou City who were arrested on April 11th were unjustly sentenced to 4-9 years of imprisonment bythe Longkou Court. The practitioners were arrested, detained, and sentenced for making Shen Yun Performing Arts CD cases. The highly acclaimed world-renowned show promotes classical Chinese culture. They were detained for nearly eight months before the trial. Their families and supporters were shocked at the news. -
Elderly Shenyang Woman Arrested, Tried for Speaking the Truth
2012-12-28Ms. Wang Guilan, 65 years old, is a resident of Shenyang in Liaoning Province. On April 17th, 2012, she was shopping at the market, and said to some people “Falun Gong is good”. She was then arrested by local police and her home was ransacked. Although the authorities did not find anything incriminating in her home, she is still being detained. Recently, the Tiexi District Court placed her on trial. -
Trial Ends Hastily When Two Practitioners Try to Expose the Persecution of Falun Gong in Shenyang City Court
2012-12-28Officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shenyang City worked with officials at the district court to try Ms. Wu Limei and Ms. Dong Huidi on October 18th, 2012. They were charged with “disrupting law enforcement.” Ms. Wu was detained in Shenyang No.1 Detention Centre, where she was brutally tortured and developed symptoms of high blood pressure and heart disease. Ms. Wu Limei's family has been persecuted before because they practise Falun Gong. Several family members have been detained or sent to forced labour camps. -
Mr. Liu Junbo Arrested Again After Being Persecuted Multiple Times
2012-12-28On November 2nd, 2012, Mr. Liu Junbo went out to explain the truth regarding the persecution of Falun Gong to the public. He was arrested by police officers. It was reported that Mr. Liu was arrested because of an unresolved case connected to his arrest in April 2011. This time police officers sent him to Fushun City Second Detention Centre. Prior to this arrest, Mr. Liu had been persecuted by the police multiple times. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Fumei in Gaocheng City, Hebei Province, Arrested, Her Son Suffers Mental Breakdown
2012-12-21Mrs. Li Fumei was arrested on October 15th. That day she had gone to Chengguan Town in Jinzhou to explain the facts about Falun Gong. She was reported, and police arrested her and confiscated her electric motorcycle, mobile phone, and other personal belongings. The arrest of his mother and the ransacking of their home dealt Mrs. Li's son a major blow, and he had a nervous breakdown. -
High School Teacher in Harbin City Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
2012-12-21In May of 2012, English teachers Mr. and Mrs. Chen Rong of Hulan High School in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, were reported and arrested when they were telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police used threats and promises to make Mr. Chen give up his practice of Falun Gong. They also told him to sign a guarantee statement, stating that he would never practise again. Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison. They let Mr Chen's wife, Zhang Shuxia, go home on May 18th. -
Teacher Gong Ruiping from Beijing Arrested Again, Subjected to Repeated Persecution
2012-12-21Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gong Ruiping is recognized as an excellent teacher. However, she has been repeatedly persecuted for her belief in Falun Gong. On August 29th, 2012, she was arrested again and sentenced to two years and nine months in prison. Ms. Gong is currently being held at the Shenyi District Nihe Detention Centre. Previously in 2002, Ms. Gong was sentenced to four years in prison. She was subjected to inhumane torture in the Beijing Women’s Prison, where she was once placed in solitary confinement for eight months and subjected to sleep deprivation, electric shocks, stick beatings, and bound. -
Practitioner Ms. Zhu Gaihong Arrested in Yuzhou City, Henan Province
2012-12-21On October 2nd, 2012, officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Yuzhou City, Henan Province, and the police and thugs from Fanggang Village Government ordered Ms. Zhu Gaihong and the director of the local Women’s Union to come to the village government. They used the excuse that Ms. Zhu needed to fill out paperwork for the one child documentation. As soon as she arrived there, police officers forced her into a bus that took her to Xuchang City Detention Centre. -
Many Practitioners from Yueyang City Arrested
2012-12-21On November 3rd, 2012, police arrested many practitioners who live in Yueyang City. The practitioners' homes were ransacked and they were taken to a brainwashing centre. Among them were many elderly seniors. Some have been on a hunger strike and their health is in critical status. Police stormed into Ms. Deng Faxiu's home and arrested her. They also ransacked her home, and arrested Ms. Liu, Ms. Xiao, and Ms. Liu, all of whom are in their seventies, Ms. Zeng Xihui was also arrested; she is in her sixties. -
Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, Sentenced
2012-12-21Four Falun Gong practitioners from Jiaonan, Qingdao City, Shandong Province were sentenced and are now incarcerated in Jinan Prison. Mr. Zhang Maoyuan was sentenced to seven years, Mr. Li Qibing to three and a half years, and Mr. Geng Dexiao to five years. Mr. Yin Qiye's sentence is yet to be clarified. Mr. Zhang and Ms. Feng were known as good people in their hometown. They had been taking good care of two of their elderly disabled parents. After the police arrested Mr. Zhang and Ms. Feng, they locked the two disabled seniors in their room. When relatives found out about this, the two seniors hadn't had anything to eat for two days. -
Judge Yells at Falun Gong Practitioner: "Am I Interrogating You, or Are You Interrogating Me?"
2012-12-21Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Dakui, 72, was arrested in 2003 and imprisoned for five years for making banners with messages explaining the truth about Falun Gong. After his release, he was arrested two more times and sent to brainwashing centres. On April 16th, 2012, Mr. Dai was arrested again and his home ransacked. He was tortured in a brainwashing centre for one month, then a detention centre for five months. During his trial Mr. Dai defended himself. The judge yelled at him, “Stop! Who's the judge here? Am I interrogating you, or are you interrogating me?”
