Fu'an City 610 Office Agents Manipulate Local Court Officials to Sentence Mr. Guo Yaowu

Fu'an City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) head Chen Zhong recently manipulated the legal system in the city to sentence Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Yaowu. Mr. Guo was arrested on February 12th, 2012. Instructed by Chen Zhong police, procurators and court officials intended to sentence Mr. Guo to prison. Mr. Guo was previously arrested in May 2001 as he posted messages of “Falun Gong is good” in high visibility areas. He was sentenced to three years and held in Minxi Prison in Fujian Province. He was subjected to severe physical abuse and torture, including being hung up as well as other tortures. -
Six Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province
2012-03-31Six Falun Gong practitioners were tried in a court in Tongchuan District, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province on December 21st, 2011. Four were in their sixties. Seven days later on December 28th, they were sentenced to between three and ten years of imprisonment. In court, Mr. Xu refuted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prosecutor's falsified charges. That afternoon, the court officers forcibly took Mr. Xu to the Tongchuan District Public Security Bureau and held him there. However, he got very sick and was later released. -
Practitioners Arrested in Several Cities of Hebei Province on February 25th
2012-03-30Around 4:00 a.m. on February 25th, police from the Zhangjiakou Police Department and Jiajiaying Police Station in Xuanhua County broke into Mr. Gao Yanchen's home in Yuantanzi Village, Xuanhua County, and arrested Mr. Gao and his wife Ms. Zhang Xiaoning. Ms. Zhang is being detained in the Jiajiaying Police Station, but Mr. Gao's whereabouts are unknown. About the same time, Mr. Lin (given name unknown) in Nihezi Village, Xuanhua County was arrested at home along with his son. They are being detained at the local police station. -
Mr. Zuo Fusheng Placed on Trial, Fuzhou Court Officials Violate the Law
2012-03-29Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zuo Fusheng was arrested by Fuzhou Public Security Bureau officials on January 19th, 2011. His home was ransacked, and he has thus far been held in the Fuzhou First Detention Centre for over a year. Mr. Zuo's family made repeated requests for his release, then hired a lawyer. Cangshan Court judge Cai Wen prevented the lawyer from visiting his client, Mr. Zuo, and conducted the case following orders from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Court officials lied to Mr. Zuo, claiming that the lawyer had not come to see him. The 610 Office then pressured the lawyer and refused to allow him to defend Mr. Zuo at his trial. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Lu Jinyou Sentenced Twice, Files Second Appeal
2012-03-27Practitioner Mr. Lu Jinyou was arrested by the Zhuozhou city police more than one year ago. He was sentenced to three years in prison by the Zhuozhou Municipal Court, and a final verdict was approved by the Baoding City Intermediate People's Court. Mr. Lu Jinyou rejected the sentence and has appealed to the Hebei Provincial Higher People's Court as of February 26th. In Mr. Lu Jinyou's appeal letter, he demands that the Provincial Higher People's Court revoke the final verdict, give him a new trial, and make a fair judgment. He also demands that the courts repair the social impact caused by the framing of Falun Gong practitioners and restore their reputation. -
Mr. Li Decheng from Gaizhou City Recently Sentenced Again
2012-03-27Mr. Li Decheng, 66, is a practitioner from Gaizhou City in Liaoning Province. He has previously been sentenced twice due to his belief in Falun Gong, totalling 9 years. On February 24th, officials at Gaizhou Court sentenced him to another 6 years in prison. When Mr. Li's family told the court to provide evidence for their decision, they were made to leave the court. Mr. Li later appealed. -
Ms. Du Xiaoli from Anhui Province Arrested Four Months Ago
2012-03-22On November 12th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Xiaoli was arrested at home by police from Jiaopo Town Police Station. The police confiscated her computer and printer. Du has now been detained nearly four months. Intending to persecute her further, Funan County Police Department personnel have submitted the materials they prepared to sentence her to the Procuratorate. -
Mr. Liang Weisheng Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
2012-03-17Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liang Weisheng was sentenced to five years in prison by the Shunyi District Court on December 20th, 2011. On April 26th, 2011, Mr. Liang's downstairs neighbour deceived him into opening his door by claiming to have come to borrow some tools. As soon as the door was opened, about 20 police rushed in and arrested Mr. Liang and his wife. They ransacked Mr. Liang's home until dawn, and took his computer, printer, Falun Gong books and informational materials and other personal belongings. Mr. Liang was taken to the Nihe Detention Centre. -
Ms. Luo Minhu from Kunming, Yunnan Province Arrested by Police, Son Seeks Justice
2012-03-15Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Luo Minhu was arrested in June of last year by local police, and her arrest was later retroactively approved by the Procuratorate. Ms. Luo's son decided to appeal for his mother because he believes that she has not done anything wrong by practising Falun Gong, and that the police have no legal basis for the arrest. -
610 Office Agents from Huining County, Gansu Province Panic after County Residents Receive Invitations to Trial
2012-03-14Five Falun Gong practitioners from Huining County, Gansu Province were arrested in September 2011 as they were speaking with villagers about Falun Gong. The practitioners have now been held for more than five months in a detention centre. Huining County Court officials scheduled a trial for them on February 28th, 2012. In response, local practitioners widely circulated an invitation to county residents to attend the court proceedings. People who received the invitations were pleasantly surprised and expressed their willingness to attend the court hearing. This has caused the 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) who were instrumental in trying to persecute these practitioners to panic. When the practitioners' families talked to the judges, the court personnel repeatedly said that they didn't want to accept and hear the case, but the county 610 Office ordered them to do so. -
Sentenced to 19 Years for Tapping into a Television Network to Broadcast Programmes Exposing the Persecution, Mr. Sun Zhaohai Tortured in Lanzhou Prison
2012-03-13Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Zhaohai was arrested in 2002 for tapping into a television network in Lanzhou City to broadcast programmes that explained the facts about Falun Gong. He was later sentenced to 19 years in prison and is now in Lanzhou Prison, Gansu Province. He has been in solitary confinement since August of 2010. He has been severely abused and tortured. -
Ms. Hu Zhongtian Arrested while Visiting a Friend in Shanghai
2012-03-13Shanghai Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Zhongtian, in her 30s, went to visit Ms. Zhang Yi and was arrested by the police on February 2nd, 2012. Ms. Zhang was unaware that Ms. Hu had been arrested the day before. Officers approached Ms. Hu trying to seize her bag but she resisted. Ms. Hu was pushed to the ground and her hands were pinched and bloody. She was then handcuffed and forced into a police car. Her current whereabouts are unknown. -
Four Female Practitioners from Ruichang City Sentenced
2012-03-09Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yao Fenglan, Ms. Zhang Daidi, Ms. Han Yuming and Ms. Zhou Meili were arrested by local police while putting up flyers exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Ruichang City on July 11th, 2011. Three months later, on October 12th, they were put on trial by authorities at Ruichang Court. Three human rights lawyers were hired to defend them. The practitioners' lawyers won long applause from everyone in the courtroom with their defence argument. However, on December 16th, the judges at Ruichang Court sentenced the practitioners to three years of imprisonment. -
Mr. Liu Qingwei, Ms. Mai Weilian from Dianbai County, Guangdong Province Sentenced to Prison
2012-03-09Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Qingwei and Ms. Mai Weilian were arrested on August 6th, 2011 by police. They were taken to a brainwashing centre, and are now critically ill from undergoing persecution. Their families requested their release; however, police department officials transferred them to the Dianbai No. 1 Detention Centre. They were sentenced to four, and three years in prison, respectively. The families finally saw Mr. Liu and Ms. Mai in the courtroom after several months of detention, since they hadn't been allowed to visit them in the detention centre. Mr. Liu Qingwei was emaciated, and his face swollen. Ms. Mai Weilian was also emaciated and had a dark complexion. -
Attorney Defends Zhang Weizhong--Gallery Member Gives Thumbs Up
2012-03-03In June 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Weizhong was arrested. On December 15th, a hearing was held at Fengrun District Court. His attorney pleaded innocent for his client, and drew admiration from the gallery in the process of presenting his defence. Zhang Weizhong has been detained for six months, and his family and relatives are calling for his immediate release. Prior to this hearing, Zhang's wife was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment for practising Falun Gong. She is currently being detained at Shijiazhuang Women's Prison. Zhang Weizhong's son, who just started high school, and his 70-year old mother have no source of income without him.
