Police Throw Falun Gong Woman to Her Death From Fourth-Story Window to Cover Up Evidence of Torture
2001-10-01To cover up their crime, officers Huang and Sun threw her, still alive, out of the 4th floor window and Yu Xiuling died from the impact. The body of Ms. Yu was hastily sent for cremation at midnight of the same evening.Officers Huang and Sun threatened Feng [Ms Yu's husband], saying, "If you want to file a lawsuit, feel free to do that in any place. We have orders from the top that no measure is too excessive when dealing with Falun Gong." The Chaoyang police then reported Ms. Yu's death as a "suicide." -
Amidst National Day Preparations, Reports Surface of Two More Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured to Death
2001-09-28Yuan Zhongyu, of Anshan City, Liaoning Province, died in the basement of the Anshan Public Security Bureau from injuries sustained during police torture, on or around August 16. In a separate case, Gu Yalou, 31, died in the City Public Security Bureau of Beihan Town, Renqiu City, in Hebei Province. -
Another Falun Gong Practitioner Dead in Custody, Death Toll Soars in Hebei Province
2001-09-28It has been learned that Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Aizhong, age 33, of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, died on September 20, 2001, following just seven days in custody at the Tangshan Labour Camp. It is believed that Chen was subjected to torture while at the camp, and most likely died of violent force-feeding. This past June two other Falun Gong practitioners were killed in the Tangshan Labour Camp, both by torture. And in the past year at least four other practitioners from Hebei (An Xiukun, Yang Guibao, Wang Ailing, and Liu Dongxue) have died in custody while on hunger strikes from force-feeding and torture by police. -

2001-09-26During a press conference in Wuerzburg, the Chinese woman artist, Cui-Ying Zhang, described the gruesome conditions prevalent in Chinese detention centres. Her personal experience report sounds like a horror story. For eight months she was incarcerated, tortured and beaten. To increase her abuse, she was the only woman assigned to a men's section of the prison. For seven months she was prohibited from walking about. She also had been shackled with heavy iron chains so severely that in some areas her skin began to rot. -
