  • Ms. Chen Loses Eyesight After Being Poisoned in Labour Camp

    Ms. Chen Guizhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xuyong County, lost sight in her left eye as a result of being poisoned in Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp more than a decade ago. She was given soya milk to drink by the guards. She describes her reaction: "My heart began beating so fast that it felt like it would explode out of my chest. I started having convulsions and was unable to move. They took me to a hospital where I was injected with unknown drugs. I then lost my memory. The inmates grabbed my hands and forced me to sign the three statements to renounce Falun Gong. I gradually began losing sight in that eye and eventually it became completely blind."

    Ms. Mu remains at Beipiao City Detention Centre following her arrest on August 24 of this year. Mr. Shuang Yawen, another Falun Gong practitioner arrested with her, is also being kept captive there.

    “A serious disease pushed me to the edge of despair when I was 19. I had a strong desire to survive, and this drove me to practice Falun Gong. I soon regained my health and a rekindled hope in life,” said Mr. Zhang Guoliang when he began to practise Falun Gong. When the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Mr. Zhang was arrested and sentenced to three and a half years in prison, where he suffered horrific torture. His chest was seriously damaged, and he developed hydrocephalus.

    "I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City. I was arrested on September 2nd, 2011, and sentenced to seven years in prison for practising Falun Gong. I have been beaten and tortured in many ways, such as “Tying with Ropes” and “Flying an Airplane.” After I went on a hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment, I was brutally force-fed. It choked me once, and I almost died. They force-fed me twice per day for six months, which damaged the membranes of my nasal cavities and stomach. It resulted in a gastrointestinal disorder, organ failure, and constipation."

    My name is Ji Shouling, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner in my 60s from Shandong Province. I was arrested on September 26th because I filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court. The police chief dragged me by my hair and threw me to the ground. He kicked and beat me.
  • Survivors of Liaoning Women's Prison Recount Their Torture

    Ms. Wu Yuping was tortured with electric batons in 2003 and 2004 at the Liaoning Women's Prison. In the Spring of 2003, police used electric batons to shock her mouth, which quickly became badly swollen. Ms. Liu Zhi, 51, was taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison in July 2011. There she was laid out on the “death bed.” Her arms and legs were stretched and secured to the four corners of a metal bed frame. She was kept in this position 24 hours a day for days at a time.

    I'm 60 years old. I was arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in July 2000 and I was tortured for three years at Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp for my belief in Falun Gong. I was subjected to brainwashing and tortured to force me to denounce my belief. I was tortured both day and night, until I couldn't think straight. My legs became swollen and I could not walk. They didn't stop until I was on the brink of death. As soon as I recovered a bit, they resumed the torture.
  • Man Recounts 12 Years of Torture for Broadcasting TV Programme Exposing Persecution of Falun Gong

    A group of seven practitioners in Lanzhou, Gansu Province tapped into a local TV station to broadcast programs exposing the persecution in August 2002. Two months later, they were all given heavy sentences ranging from 10 to 19 years in prison. Mr. Qiang Xiaoyi was among the sentenced. He managed to survive brutal torture in three different prisons during his twelve years of imprisonment.

    Ma Zhiwu, a 42-year-old man was imprisoned in Yinchuan Prison for three and half years for practising Falun Gong. To weaken Mr. Ma's willpower, guards at Yinchuan Prison tried everything they could think of to make him suffer. Prior to his latest arrest in September 2010 that landed him in Yinchuan Prison, Mr. Ma already spent eight years being tortured in prison for his belief in Falun Gong from late 1999 to mid-2008, during which time his daughter was born and had to be raised along by his wife.

    Simply for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong, Ms. Li Yushu, a former education official, was arrested on May 19th, 2002 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Having no other means to appeal her mistreatment, Ms. Li and other practitioners went on hunger strikes as a means of peaceful protest. However, they were punished with force-feeding, a torture method intended to inflict harm on hunger-strikers. Once a healthy woman, she looked like a frail old lady when she was released this May. Three months after she returned home, she still could not manage her daily life because of injuries sustained in prison.
  • Former Nurse Recounts 15 Years of Her Shattered Life

    Ms. Zhou Yanbo once had a satisfying job as head nurse and a happy family. Her happy life, however, came to a halt when the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. She was arrested five times between 1999 and 2003, and tortured to the verge of death multiple times. She was fired from her job, and her husband abandoned her to avoid being implicated in the persecution. Her family paid huge fines in exchange for her release.

The CCP persecuted my family members as well. One of my brothers and my husband lost their lives due to constant rounds of threats, extortion, and extreme anxiety.

    Prison guard captain Liu Jie sent me to Liaoning Women's Prison's hospital ward on January 13th, 2012. She cursed me again, “You will lead the most painful life here.” Liu didn't get her bonus at the end of 2011, because I refused to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. Starting from December 14th, 2012, I noticed strange additions in my food. My drinking water also smelled like medicine. Even the food that my daughter brought for me tasted strange. On January 2nd, 2013, I had difficulty breathing again.

    Upon my arrival at Liaoning Women's Prison, prison guard captain Liu Jie assigned me to rack torture for a week. My arms and legs were bound to four corners of a metal bed. There was no mattress on the bed, just a wooden board. I was tied in this position all week, 24 hours a day. I couldn't see my feet, but my hands were black and blue. The skin around my tailbone was ground open from my restricted movements. I experienced multiple spasms that week.

However, the prison denied her application for medical parole, citing that she had not given up her beliefs.
