Mr. Zhao Peijie Became Mentally Ill and Passed Away Due to Persecution

Mr. Zhao Peijie was from Rongcheng City, Shandong Province. He was detained in a mental hospital by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for two years and became mentally ill as a result. Moreover, he was forced to take some medicine which destroyed his central nervous system. Afterwards, he wandered around for several years. On June 28th, 2008, when his younger sister was getting married, he passed away in the wilderness at the age of 32.

Falun Gong Practitioners Huo Yinggui from Fushun City and Chen Sizhong from Qidong City Die after Long-term Persecution

Ms. Huo Yinggui, 53, went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in October 1999, and was sent to a detention centre. She was later sentenced to one and a half years in a labour camp. Ms. Huo suffered brutal torture. When she was released home, she was continually harassed by local officials, and lived in constant fear. Since 2005, Ms. Huo had been homeless and destitute since then to avoid further persecution. She was traumatized to such an extent that the sight of a police car or sound of siren would fill her with fear. Under such pressure, she could not eat and began to lose weight. In 2007, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and died on July 8th, 2008.

Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Beijiang Prison in Guangdong

Practitioner Huang Yongzhong wrote some good words about Falun Gong in his "thought reports in prison." Guards forced him to stand in the hot summer sun for a long time. The temperature reached over 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the courtyard. Huang Yongzhong collapsed, and was subsequently beaten by a group of inmates. After they finished beating him and saw that he didn't wake up, they dragged him to the toilet and poured cold water on him. They dragged him outside to expose him to the sun again. Huang's buttocks were burned very badly and festered. After five days, when he was nearly dead, the prison officials sent Huang to the hospital. Huang was allowed to go home, but it was too late. He vomited blood continuously and died ten days later.

Additional Information on Mr. Zhang Wenya's Death as a Result of Persecution

Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhang Wenya died as a result of persecution by the police from the Xian City Police Department in Shanxi Province on April 22nd, 2001. Mr. Zhang's family took his cremated remains back to Changchun City on June 24th, 2001. Police informed Mr. Zhang's family of his death two months after his actual death. When his family arrived at Xian City, they observed that his body was dark and without clothes. A police officer deceived his family by claiming that Mr. Zhang had jumped off a building and killed himself. The police played a videotape of it for his family.

70-year-old Mr. Chen Yunchuan Detained Again After Losing Four Family Members in the Persecution

Mr. Chen Yunchuan, 70, is a practitioner from Hebei Province. All six members of his family are practitioners, and four of them have died as a result of the persecution. Recently, Mr. Chen was arrested again at his home. The oldest son, Mr. Chen Aizhong, was sentenced to three years of forced labour and died at the Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City on September 20th, 2001. The youngest daughter, Ms. Chen Hongping, was sentenced to forced labour after both of her legs were broken during a beating. She died at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp on March 5th, 2003. The youngest son, Mr. Chen Aili, was tortured to the verge of death at the Jidong Prison in Tangshan City. He passed away on November 5th, 2004.

Investigation Lead: A Zhengzhou Hospital in Henan Province Found a Liver and Kidney for Transplant in Three Weeks

The horrifying discovery of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and the immediate cremation of their bodies to destroy evidence was first reported on March 4th, 2006. The Falun Dafa Association and Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom) founded the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China" (CIPFG) on April 4th, 2006. CIPFG is collecting evidence of the crime of organ harvesting. The following are several investigation leads obtained recently. We hope that people will continue to help us expose how Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted in re-education labour camps (also called forced labour camps), prisons, and hospitals in China, and help stop the persecution.

Liu Xiumei Tortured to Death - Her Family Members Will Take Legal Action

Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xiumei was taken away from her home on July 10th, 2008 by police from the Developing Zone Police Station. On July 27th, her family members learned that Liu Xiumei had died as a result of being severely tortured. During her detention, Liu Xiumei's husband Wang Qinglu and their son went to the police station numerous times to inquire about her situation. Later, an official promised them that he would release Liu Xiumei on July 21st, but it never happened. Liu Xiumei's husband has now engaged a lawyer to take legal action over her death, and the lawyer needs the diagnosis report as evidence. But the police station and the hospital are shifting the responsibility to each other, and both refuse to provide the report.

Mr. Hu Heping from Hunan Province Dies as a Result of Torture

On March 18th, 2008, police arrested Mr. Hu Heping and took him to the Yueyang City First Detention Centre. Due to the torture that Mr. Hu endured while in police custody, his internal organs were injured, there was blood in his urine, and his legs and feet were swollen. He could not stop coughing. His weight dropped from 120 pounds to just 90 pounds. On June 16th, guards took him to the hospital and they found his internal organs were severely damaged. He never recovered from his injuries and died on the early morning of August 7th.

Mr. Sun Yuzhang,76, Dies from Police Harassment; More Than Twenty Practitioners Arrested in Hebei Province

Mr. Sun Yuzhang, 76, went to Beijing twice July 20th, 1999 to explain the facts about Falun Gong with his personal experience. Police detained him for eight months in the Shenzhou City Detention Centre. In July 2008, for the sake of "Olympics security," police started another round of arresting, harassing, home-ransacking, and surveillance on all Falun Gong practitioners. They arrested 20 to 30 practitioners. On July 18th, police tried to arrest Mr. Sun's youngest daughter (a practitioner), but they did not succeed. Mr. Sun was deeply disturbed and worried about his daughter. He felt very upset on the evening of July 21st, and died on July 22nd, 2008.

Ms. Wu Minhua Dies As a Result of Persecution

Ms. Wu Minhua, 67, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December 1999, and was detained for 15 days upon returning home. She was then listed on the police department's "blacklist." In May 2004, Ms. Wu was forcibly taken to a brainwashing session held. She was locked in a 60 square-foot dark room for two months and tortured both mentally and physically. Police closely monitored her, and constantly harassed her. The huge pressure injured her mind and body, and she died on July 22nd, 2008.

Mr. Zhang Yanrong from Gansu Province Died after Eight Years of Repeated Torture

Mr. Zhang Yanrong was from Gansu Province. He learned Falun Gong in 1997. After he started to practise Falun Gong, his health improved and he became known as a good person by everyone who knew him. After July 20th, 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, he appealed for justice for Falun Gong. The Yongchang County Police Department arrested and tortured him many times. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and transferred to the Lanzhou Prison, then Wuwei Third Prison and Jiuquan Prison. He was brutally tortured in prison which greatly endangered his life. He finally passed away on August 15th, 2007 at the age of 48.

Ms. Li Shuzhen Dies after Being Interrogated by Police in Jilin Province

After the persecution started in 1999, Party officials ransacked 58-year-old Ms. Li Shuzhen's home, extorted money from her, sent her to a forced labour camp, and brutally beat her multiple times. On January 30th, 2007, was falsely taken to the police department. Police searched her in a toilet. Ms. Li resisted, but she was not clear exactly what they did to her. After that incident, Ms. Li suffered incontinence, and she was bed-ridden and could not take care of herself. She died on March 7th, 2008. The police went to harass her family four days after she died.

Suspicious Police Activity Leading up to and After the Death of Ms. Chen Yumei

Forty-eight-year-old practitioner, Ms. Chen Yumei left home at around 7:30 p.m. on July 3rd, 2008. She was arrested and violently beaten until she was unconscious. This arrest took place near Ms. Chen's own neighbourhood by the police from Changan Police Station, Shenyang City. At about 9:20 p.m., several officers from the Changan Police Station arrived at Ms. Chen's home, claiming that she had fainted and she was in an ambulance right outside. They requested her family's confirmation. Ms. Chen Yumei passed away on July 4th in the No. 463 Air Force Hospital.

Practitioner Mr. Geng Jinzhu Dies After Years of Persecution

Mr. Geng Jinzhu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province, died on July 5th, 2008 after being tortured into disability and suffering years of harassment and extortion at the hands of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities. He was in his 40's. In September, 2001, he was detained and brutally tortured at a brainwashing centre. One time, several policemen from the brainwashing centre used rubber batons to beat him. The beating went on all night long until the policemen were so tired that they were out of breath. As a result of the severe beating, Geng Jinzhu's whole body turned black and blue. His flesh was separated from the bone and his body was so swollen that his clothes didn't fit any more.

Mr. Fan Youjun Dies as Result of the Persecution in Hubei Province

Mr. Fan Youjun, 56, was harassed and detained multiple times since the the persecution began in 1999. He was last arrested on October 23rd, 2007, when police broke into his home and found Falun Gong materials. Mr. Fan was arrested as a healthy man, but he was mentally and physically tortured in the detention centre. After only several months of mistreatment in detention, he became very weak. Later, his condition worsened, and his life was in danger. Mr. Fan was checked in to Tianmen City First People's Hospital. On July 29th, 2008, only 13 days after he was bailed out, Mr. Fan died.
