Man, 42, Dies Within Two Months of Release on Medical Parole
2015-03-13Mr. Tan Degang was sentenced to three and a half years in January 2013 for exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was transferred to a local prison two months later and soon developed liver cancer due to brutal torture. He was eventually released on medical parole in January of this year, only to die less than two months later. He was 42. -
Woman Dies of Stroke Following Harassment and Threats by Police
2015-03-06Ms. Li Youqin, a 78-year-old woman from Daxing'anling, Heilongjiang Province, passed away last August, after remaining in a coma for about two months following a sudden stroke. Ms. Li was arrested last May while distributing Shen Yun DVDs [a New York-based world-class traditional Chinese cultural show] on the street. She firmly refused to reveal her name or address. The police threatened that they would come for her later. Less than two weeks later, she had a sudden stroke and lost consciousness. -
Driven Insane during Imprisonment, Young Woman Recently Found Dead in Well
2015-03-06On February 13th, 2015, a villager and child made a grisly discovery in a village in Laiyang City, Shandong Province. While taking a morning walk, they found a body floating in a well. The body was identified as Ms. Liu Zhimei, a woman in her mid-30s. Ms. Liu never got a chance to finish college due to the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong. She suffered for six years in prison, where she was repeatedly drugged and developed psychotic symptoms. -
Younger Sister Driven Insane in Police Custody, Older Sister Beaten to Death
2015-02-23Ms. Sun Jinjun was arrested on July 21st, 2014 because she practised Falun Gong. After being abused in police custody, she suffered a relapse of schizophrenia that had developed while she was incarcerated at a labour camp 14 years ago. She is now facing possible trial. Her recent arrest added to her family's suffering at the hands of the Chinese Communist regime: her older sister Ms. Sun Yuhua was killed in a guard-instigated beating in Liaoning Province Women's Prison in 2003 for practising Falun Gong. -
Police Harass Daughter of Tortured-to-Death Victim
2015-02-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qin Yueming died at the Jiamusi Prison after guards force-fed him in February 2011. Mr. Qin's wife and two daughters are seeking justice. Despite all the red tape, their case was accepted by the Compensation Committee of the Higher People's Court in Heilongjiang Province in September 2011. However, the family has been under intense pressure by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to withdraw their case. The women were threatened, harassed, and monitored. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Forcibly Cremated after Dying as a Result of Torture
2015-02-10Ms. Gao Xiufeng was arrested on May 12th, 2001 for making a banner with information about Falun Gong. She held a hunger strike to protest the detention and was subjected to forc-fed. She died when a guard inserted the feeding tube into her lung during a force-feeding session on May 19th. She was 31. Police took her body for cremation that afternoon. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has developed a systematic approach to hiding or destroying evidence of its genocide of Falun Gong practitioners. -
Ms. Fan Liping Dies One Day Following Her Arrest
2015-02-10Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fan died on October 16th, 2014, a day after she was arrested. Authorities wanted to cremate her body before an autopsy could be held. Her husband Zhang Ge was arrested the same day and is currently being held at the Changchun No. 2 Detention Centre. The police claimed that Ms. Fan died by jumping from the third floor in her attempt to escape the hospital. Another version released from the same police station claimed that Ms. Fan was diagnosed as having cancer, collapsed at the news and killed herself by jumping from a building. -
Ms. Liu Fengmei Dies After Endless Torment and Harassment
2015-02-02Rushing back from Beijing, Mr. Cheng Hua arrived home at around 3:00 p.m. on December 18th, 2014. He cried, facing the body of his wife Ms. Liu Fengmei, who had suffered such terrible persecution by police, the forced labour camp, and the prisons of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She had passed away at 4:00 a.m. that day. Ms. Liu is a witness of this historical persecution. For more than ten years, her life epitomised the bloody persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. -
Another Possible Poisoning: Mr. Zhang Dies One Month After Release
2015-01-26Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shixiang, 66, was swollen all over when he was released from Wumaping Prison on November 3rd, 2014. He had just finished his six-year prison term. After his release he was unable to take care of himself. His legs were so swollen that some areas ruptured and bled. He passed away in great pain on December 4th, one month after his release. His family and friends suspect that he was poisoned in prison. Another practitioner, Ms. Li Mengshu, who died in 2009, had very similar symptoms when she was released from the Chengdu City Women's Prison. -
Mother and Daughter Persecuted to Death in Xinjiang
2015-01-26Ms. Niu Guifen passed away on November 21st, 2013, at the age of 65, one year after her release from Xinjiang Women's Prison. She had been repeatedly arrested and suffered a total of 14 years of persecution because she practised Falun Gong and informed others about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime. Her daughter Ms. Zhang Liyuan passed away on February 13th, 2006, four months after being released from Laizhou Detention Centre in Shandong Province. She was only 30 years old. -
Devastated Father Dies the Day after His Son Is Again Arrested
2015-01-21Having spent six years in prison for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong, 51-year-old Mr. Cheng Yongyue was arrested again less than four years after his release. His father was so devastated that he passed away the very next day. Mr. Cheng's wife filed for divorce, leaving their school-age son in tears every day. -
70-Year-Old Ms. Yu Zaorong Died Due to the Persecution
2015-01-19Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Zaorong, a 70-year-old farmer, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2012 and held at the Hubei Women's Prison. She developed severe heart problems and was released on medical parole. Despite her illness, Ms. Yu was harassed and monitored at home. The police ransacked her home during the first half of 2014 and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Because of the long term persecution Ms. Yu suffered physical and mental harm. She passed away on January 3rd, 2015. -
36-Year-Old Ms. Lu Ling Dies after Years of Persecution
2015-01-19Ms. Lu Ling from Genhe City, Inner Mongolia, died in a hospital on October 16th, 2014. She was only 36 years old. She was incarcerated twice in forced labour camps and sentenced to five years of imprisonment. When she was on the brink of death, Ms. Lu was released from the Hohhot Prison in 2012. She had been subjected to years of torture and abuse because she practised Falun Gong. -
Dark Secrets of China's “Ankang” Psychiatric Hospitals
2015-01-12Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Zhiqin was taken to Tangshan Ankang Hospital in autumn 2000, where she was injected with nerve-damaging drugs. Ms. Liang Zhiqin suffered heart failure and went into shock twice after receiving injections of psychiatric drugs. She could not take care of herself for three years and eventually passed away in 2009. -
Ms. Mu Suxia Dies due to Illness Incurred in Detention
2015-01-12Ms. Mu Suxia was arrested for installing satellite dishes that enable viewers to receive overseas-based New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). NTDTV is banned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because the programming is uncensored by the CCP and does not conform to the Communist Party line. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. Ms. Mu was in good health prior to the arrest. However, she became very ill while at the Zhengzhou Detention Centre. She was released on medical parole in May 2014. When she left the detention centre, her entire body was swollen, and the ensuing medical treatment to save her life failed. She passed away on December 22nd, 2014.
