A Non-Practitioner Unjustly Detained On the Grounds of Helping Falun Gong Practitioners Distribute Leaflets Exposing the Persecution

Towards the end of April this year, Mr Yang Fengwen, a non-practitioner, helped Falun Gong practitioners distribute leaflets exposing the persecution. Police arrested him and took him away. The County Police Station, the County Court, and the County Procuratorate all got involved. Together, they held Yang at the No. 2 County Detention Centre for over five months. After that, Yang was transferred to a brainwashing centre in the township and still remains there. -
Police Officers Arrest Disabled Practitioner Mr. Wang Yonghua in Sichuan Province
2005-11-05The police arrested Mr. Wang Yonghua, a disabled farmer from Suining City, at the end of August. They have detained him ever since. On August 30th, Suining City Beimen Police Department officials sent the police to his home again to ransack it. They knocked over his parents' furniture and took away a mobile phone and a family portrait of Mr. Wang with his wife and daughter. They also beat Mr. Wang in front of his parents and took him away to Suining City for interrogation. His wife was forced to leave home with their 10-month-old son to avoid the persecution. -
50-Year-Old Ms. Wang Yuling Sentenced to Long Prison Term; Son Died From Shock and Grief, Disabled Husband is Barely Scraping By
2005-11-0350-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Yuling was unlawfully sentenced to 13 years in prison for persisting in her belief in Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. For the past three years the police have never notified her family about her incarceration and have never allowed them to visit her. Her family enquired in all sorts of places for over a year and finally found out that she is being held at a "labour reeducation" hospital. The police tied her hands with plastic bands, burned her, beat and kicked her, poured cold water on her, and shocked her with 30,000-volt electric baton(s), which made her lose consciousness. Her son fell ill and later died from shock and grief at his mother's brutal persecution. -
The Longsha Police Branch in Qiqihar Arrested Nearly 100 Falun Gong Practitioners in March 2005
2005-10-23At the beginning of March, two female Falun Gong practitioners were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. The surveillance camera caught them. The police followed them and then started large-scale arrests. The police then subjected every arrested Falun Gong practitioner to strappado and many other forms of torture. [Note: The strappado is a form of torture in which a victim is suspended in the air by means of a rope attached to his hands which are tied behind his back.] Those Falun Gong practitioners who suffered this torture lost the ability to look after themselves. -
Lawless Officials from Shandong Province Arrest Many Falun Dafa Practitioners
2005-10-22Recently, Diao Dechang of the Police Bureau of Luancheng City, was appointed director of the police bureau in Guan County, Shandong Province. He has declared publicly that he will eradicate Falun Gong. He said that the whole county would work together to "meet, visit, register, search, and arrest" Falun Dafa practitioners (especially those who had previously been arrested or sentenced) during the October 1st holiday. -
Ms. Zhang Xinyi from Hunan Province Unjustly Sentenced to Three Year Prison Term
2005-10-21It has been reported that after 51-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Xinyi was secretly tried on August 4th 2005, she was sentenced to three years in prison by the Tianxin District Court in Changsha City. The reasons for Ms. Zhang's sentence are as follows: she was caught on two occasions distributing leaflets exposing the persecution about Falun Gong and the police found leaflets at her home. Ms Zhang was sued for violating criminal law article 300 and the so-called "obstruction of criminal law." -
Recent Persecution of Practitioners by Dalian City Police
2005-10-19On the evening of October 9th 2005, Dalian City police stormed into people's homes and arrested five Falun Dafa practitioners. At around midnight, Ms. Man Chunrong's children woke up, and found that their mother had not returned home. They started looking for her, and learned from Ms. Liu Yuqin's husband, that they were all arrested. The two kids went to the police station and were locked outside the gate for more than two hours. Police ransacked these five practitioners' homes, did not find anything they wanted, but still refused to release them. -
Two Falun Dafa PractitionersUnjustly Sentenced to Prison in Laiwu City
2005-10-18Practitioners Mr. Wang Zideng and Mr. Pang Jihai were represented by a defence counsel in Laichen District Court, Laiwu City on February 1st 2005. The defence counsel argued that according to the law, Wang Zideng should be released. However, the amoral court determined on June 5th 2005, that Mr. Wang be sentenced to 7 years in prison and Pang Jihai to 6 years in prison for following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to improve themselves. The court verdicts were controlled by the Laiwu City 610 Officeband the Political Judicial Committee. -
Four Practitioners Put on Trial Unlawfully in Liaoning Province
2005-10-15On September 12th 2005, the Xinglongtai District Court put on trial four practitioners who had been arrested without due cause. The "defence lawyers" for the four practitioners were court-appointed (Note: The lawyers could only enter guilty pleas for the practitioners and were not allowed to speak in their defence.) Ms. Hu wanted to defend her innocence, but the court refused to hear her. Her lawyer said, "I'm not allowed to enter a not guilty plea for you. I can only enter a guilty plea of misdemeanour." Mr. Hou's lawyer was not allowed to enter a not guilty plea and thus entered a guilty plea for misdemeanour for him as well. -
Practitioner Ms. Zhu Chengying from Sichuan Province Has Been Unjustly Sentenced to Ten Years
2005-10-12On August 26th 2005, the Jinjiang District Police Station in Chengdu City, the Jinjiang District Procuratorate, the Jinjiang District Court, and the State Security Brigade from the Leshan City Police Station arrested 54-year-old Ms. Zhu Chengying from her home. On September 15th she was sentenced to ten years in prison without a fair trial and is now being held at the Chengdu City Detention Centre. What was her crime? She told the facts of Falun Dafa to the authorities and to others who had been misled by the government propaganda and so was considered a criminal. -
Update on Falun Dafa Practitioners from Helongjiang Province Suffering from Persecution
2005-10-10The following is an update on the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners from Fuyu County in Heilongjiang Province. Ms. Zeng Fenglian was tortured so severely that she can no longer walk. Mr. Xu Guoxiang was arrested when looking for work out of town. Without him, his wife and son are living a difficult life. Ms. Lu Guizheng has been persecuted. She and her family's whereabouts have been unknown for nearly three years. Mr. Zhai Yuzhu was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison. -
The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Hebei Province
2005-10-10The police closely follow the persecution policies against Falun Gong initiated by former leader Jiang Zemin and his regime. They illegally search Falun Gong practitioners' homes, brutally beat them, and subject them to all manner of painful tortures including burning practitioners with cigarettes, nailing bamboo spikes into practitioners' fingernails, and beating them with electric batons. In the authorities' efforts to try and "reform" Falun Gong practitioners, practitioners are severely tortured both physically and mentally. Some have been forced to leave home to avoid persecution. -
Frenzied Arrests of Dafa Practitioners Took Place in Qingdao City Just Before the October 1st National Day
2005-10-09The Qingdao Police started an intensive manhunt of Falun Gong practitioners on September 26th 2005, in anticipation of the upcoming National Day on October 1st. Ms. Cui Weirui, from the Shibei District and approximately 56 years old, was arrested from her home in the early morning hours of September 20th 2005. The police also ransacked her home. She is now imprisoned and being forced to attend a brainwashing class in Qingdao City. -
Dadong District Court of Shenyang City Put a Good Person in Jail
2005-10-09On the morning of September 20th 2005, Falun Dafa practitioners Mrs. Wang Jinping and Bai Min were on trial in Dadong District Court of Shenyang City, and were sentenced to eight and four years of prison respectively, for "disturbing social order and endangering national security." During the trial process, there was no defence lawyer and no chance for them to defend themselves. The verdict was pushed through as if it was part of a mechanised process. -
Government Officials in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province Arrest at Least 16 Falun Gong Practitioners
2005-10-08On September 23rd 2005, a large number of Daqing City policemen were sent to arrest many Dafa practitioners. At least 16 practitioners from the city were arrested. It started about five a.m. The Head of the Daqing Development Zone Police Sub-bureau led 7 to 8 policemen to break into the house of elderly Dafa practitioner Ms. Gao Guifen. The policemen cut her telephone line and disconnected her mobile phone to cut off all communication to the outside. They ransacked her house and confiscated her personal property. At about 10 a.m. the policemen took Ms. Gao Guifen, who is nearly 70 years old, to criminal detention.
