Practitioners in Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre Brutally Tortured

At the beginning of 2010, the Political and Legal Committee of the Heilongjiang Land Reclamation Bureau and the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) set up a brainwashing centre Qinglongshan in the backyard of the Qinglongshang Farm Police Department. They called it the Qinglongshan “Law Enforcement Training Base.” During the past two years, officials from the Political and Legal Committee and 610 Office have arrested many practitioners and sent them to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre to persecute them.

At around 6:30 a.m. on June 28th, 2012, Zhu Shujie, an official with the Heilongjiang Bayi Land Reclamation University; Zhang Yuqing; and an officer from the University Police Department went to Ms. Chen Min's home to get her to go with them to the police department. Ms. Chen refused to cooperate, so they took her by force to the brainwashing centre. She had been home for just a month since her release on May 24th, 2012, from 21 months of imprisonment. She had been arrested on August 12nd, 2010.

In the brainwashing centre, Ms. Chen was handcuffed to a metal bed for more than 15 days. After she was released, the officials tried to force her to sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong. She refused, so they stretched her arms and cuffed her hands to the bed rail. She was put in a position where she was unable to stand up or sit down.

Ms. Chen was subjected to this stretching torture three times. The handcuffs cut into her flesh, and she was in so much pain that beads of sweat ran down her face. Against her will, she wrote the statement to renounce Falun Gong. She was released after three and a half months of torture on October 12th, 2012.

The officials in the brainwashing centre are Fang Yuechun, Tao Huam and Fang Xiumei. Three thugs were hired, Jin Yanpeng, Zhou Jingfengm and Zhu (given name unknown), and they are paid more than 2,000 yuan¹ per month.

After practitioners from the Heilongjiang Province Farm Authority were taken to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre, they were forced to watch videos and articles that slandered Falun Gong. They were pressured to write articles to criticize Falun Gong and statements to renounce Falun Gong. Any practitioner who refused to cooperate was threatened with job loss, long term detention, forced labour or prison, or their children not being not allowed to go to college. If the threats did not work, the practitioners were brutally beaten and tortured.

By now, more than 50 practitioners have been persecuted in the Qinglongshan brainwashing centre. Practitioners' employers are forced to pay 10,000 yuan for each practitioner every month. Most of the practitioners have been held there for over two months at a time.

Three practitioners are still in the centre: Ms. Chen Dongmei from Jiamusi City, Ms. Meng Fanli from Tangyuan County, and Ms. Zhang Fengrong from the Mishan area.
