Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Jianfeng was originally scheduled to be tried on August 10th in Shapotou District Court, Zhongwei City, Ningxia Autonomous Region. Due to concerns raised by the defence lawyer, the court postponed the hearing. More than a month has passed with no further information about him. His family has requested his release, but could not find the right person to talk to.They were given the run-around, or were totally ignored.

Mr. Sun and Ms. Huang Yuxia visited Ms. Chang Xiue on March 30th, 2012. Team leader Li Jinjun, instructor Li Cunshan of the Zhongwei City Domestic Security Division, and several others including Li Zhanhong broke into Ms. Chang's home. They arrested all three, ransacked the home, and confiscated Ms. Chang's computer, printer, and private belongings. They were taken to the Zhongwei City Public Security Bureau for an interrogation.

Officer Li Cunshan put handcuffs on Ms. Huang Yuxia, punched and kicked her, slapped her in the face, and tortured her on the Tiger Bench¹. He used profanity to slander Falun Gong. That night, Li Cunshan and others went to Ms. Huang's home, ransacked it, and confiscated a computer, printer, and private belongings.

While the three practitioners were being held in Zhongwei City Public Security Bureau, they were taken to a local hospital for “check-ups.” Ms. Huang did not pass the physical and was released on the night of March 31st. Not long after, Ms. Cheng was also released. Mr. Sun Jianfeng has been held the Zhongwei City Detention Centre ever since, over six months.

The Shapotou Procuratorate prosecuted Sun Jianfeng on a trumped-up charge of “using a cult organisation to undermine law enforcement” on July 11th. The Shapotou Court permitted Attorney Wang to defend Mr. Sun and scheduled a hearing on August 10th.

On August 10th, Mr. Sun's family and relatives arrived at the Shapotou Court, but were told that the hearing had been postponed and that they would be be informed of the next hearing date. His family has been thwarted at every turn. They went to Shapotou Court and were told the case had been handed over to a higher authority. Instructor Li Cunshan of the Zhongwei City Domestic Security Division has been transferred and moved home, others did not relay the change about Li Cunshan's new post, so he could not be found. The family went to see Tuo Zhaowang, the newly appointed director of the Zhongwei City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He said he did not know anything about it. The law enforcement agencies all evaded taking responsibility. It seemed that no one was “executing the law.” The detention centre has refused to release Mr. Sun, and his family are at a loss and do not know what to do. Moreover, his family heard that he had developed a rash all over his body. Also, the prison guards force-fed him drugs and broke several teeth by prying his mouth open, so the family is even more worried about his safety.

Mr. Sun Jianfeng has been sent to forced labour camps four times in the past for appealing for Falun Gong. He had to make rope, do hard labour, and endure force-feedings. He almost froze to death in the cold weather, was under long term surveillance, and was tortured by “Hanging by handcuffs” for 72 days. After being hung up for 72 days, Mr. Sun was released from solitary confinement. His hair was all matted; he was incoherent; the back of his jacket was worn out; the seat of his trousers was worn out; he could not bear any weight on his feet, legs, or knees; his toes were disfigured; and he had thick calluses on the bottom of his feet. He was bedridden for more than two months before he could barely walk again. Mr. Sun's wrists still have many scars from being handcuffed.

Because Sun Jianfeng practises Falun Gong, he follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance all the time and is considerate and kind to others. He works hard and diligently; honours his parents at home; cares for his brothers and sisters, relatives and friends. Mr. Su's behaviour is not criminal, so he should be released immediately and unconditionally!

1. "Tiger Bench": Prisoners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead without movement for long periods of time.
