Falun Gong Practitioners Suffer Relentless Torture Inside Shandong Prison

The eleventh ward in Shandong Province Prison is dedicated to housing and torturing Falun Gong practitioners.

The prison authorities require practitioners to do forced labour in a dark, damp, poorly ventilated, and dirty basement. They have to work from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with very little time to eat in between, let alone rest.

The practitioners have to make handbags that require use of a toxic glue. The solvent quickly evaporates from the glue and makes many of the practitioners sick. The guards force them to work anyway.

Practitioners Mr. Jiang Guanmin (姜官民) and Mr. Zhang Shengqi (张胜齐) refused to follow the guards' orders and were subsequently locked up and brutally tortured while in solitary confinement.

Guard Li Wei (李伟) hit Mr. Zhang because he said “Falun Gong is good.” Li also ordered inmates Ren Qiang (任强), Yang Hongyou (杨洪有), Wu Qintao (吴秦涛), and Zhao Shouyi (赵守一) to beat Mr. Zhang and use pepper spray on him.

The guards put Mr. Zhang Hongjin (张洪金) in a straitjacket. Li Wei and Zheng Jie (郑杰) then ordered inmate Shi Guangxing (史光星) to shock Mr. Zhang with a high-voltage electric baton for a long time.

The eleventh ward selected ten inmates to torture Falun Gong practitioners, with the goal being to force them to give up their belief. The chosen inmates were serious criminal offenders.
