Sweden: Candle Light Vigil in Gothenburg Commemorating Over One Thousand Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured to Death in China.

On the 23rd of July 2004, to commemorate over 1000 Falun Gong practitioners who have been confirmed persecuted to death in China, Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Chinese Consulate in Gothenburg to hold a peaceful candlelit vigil.

The practitioners practised the Falun Gong exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts together at the Chinese Consulate. Many cars honked their horns in encouragement. Today, it is now more than five years since the Chinese regime started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Sadly enough, this persecution has spread beyond China's borders in different forms through the Chinese Embassies and Consulates.

Through our peaceful activity, we wish to make clear to the representatives from the Chinese regime at the Consulate that this brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners must come to an end immediately. The costs of this persecution in terms of human lives and resources are huge and disastrous. We also want to appeal to the staff of the Consulate that they should follow their conscience and not the illegal orders from the Jiang group to participate in this persecution of innocent people abroad.
