"610 Office" Arrest a Doctor Who Refuses to Obey Their Unreasonable Demands

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Hu Jinzhao, 36, is a doctor at the Yunnan Province Psychiatric Hospital. While on duty in the clinic on March 16, 2002, he was arrested and taken to a Detention Centre in Kunming City, Yunnan Province by the Guandu District Security Brigade and the "610 Office." His house was illegally searched and his property was confiscated.

The situation developed as follows: "610 Office" officials had brought a patient with psychosis to Dr. Hu Jinzhao's office at the Yunnan Province Psychiatric Hospital. Seeking to slander Falun Dafa, they asked Dr. Hu to certify that the patient had become psychotic because of practising Falun Gong. Dr. Hu refused their request, and clarified the truth about Falun Gong to them. The "610 Office" officials saw the three words, "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance," under the glass on his desk, so they asked him if he practised Falun Gong. Dr. Hu said yes!

Later, they arrested Dr. Hu and sent him to the Guandu District Detention Centre using the excuse that he publicly spread Falun Gong in the work place. Hu Jinzhao didn't comply with their demands, and after he was detained for 30 days he was released. His hospital was pressured by the authorities, so they asked Hu Jinzhao to do cleaning work in the service department, and they monitored him. They gave him only 400 yuan per month for living expenses, though he actually received only 200 yuan.

Between July and October 2004, Hu Jinzhao was reported because he clarified the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to his coworkers and other people in the hospital.

On the morning of November 4, 2004, Hu Jinzhao was arrested and taken to the Second Labour Camp of Yunnan Province, which is located in Chuxiong City. He was sentenced to three years of re-education through labour.
