France: Practitioners Invited to a Conference by Human Rights Organisations Active in Southeast Asia

On the 18th of December 2004, an important conference about human rights problems in Vietnam, Laos, Burma, Cambodia and China opened in the Culture and Education Centre in Paris. A few hundred people attended the conference. Asian human rights organisations exposed the serious human rights violations in these authoritarian and communist countries. The ongoing persecution against Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin’s Chinese communist regime raised concern in everyone’s hearts. It attracted the attention of every organisation and participant in the conference and the persecution was strongly condemned.

Falun Gong practitioners were invited to talk more about Falun Gong in the conference hall. Posters illustrated the various torture methods used by the Jiang regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China. Relevant reports and information packages about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners were all taken in a short space of time. People sympathized with the sufferings of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The chairperson of the French Falun Dafa Association spoke at the conference: “Falun Gong is a Qigong practice that is liked by Chinese people and people in the rest of the world. It is a very good cultivation way. Falun Gong has received many awards and proclamations from many nations. In China it was estimated that between seventy and one hundred million people were practising Falun Gong since its public introduction in 1992. The practice is entirely voluntary.”

“During its spread in China, Falun Gong also received many awards and much support from the Chinese Government. In 1995, the founder of Falun Gong, Mr Li Hongzhi, was invited by the Chinese Embassy in Paris to give a lecture about Falun Gong at the Chinese Embassy’s Culture Bureau. It was Jiang Zemin’s personal jealousy and selfishness that led him to initiate a brutal persecution campaign against Falun Gong. During the five years of persecution, one thousand one hundred and ninety five innocent Falun Gong practitioners lost their lives, many thousands were illegally sentenced to prison, several thousand were detained in mental hospitals and hundreds of thousands were illegally detained in forced labour camps.”

The Chairperson of the Falun Dafa Association thanked organisations and individuals for their support and hoped that all kind-hearted people in the world will support and stand with us to denounce and condemn this brutal persecution.

A representative from Amnesty International, who is responsible for investigating human rights violations in China, also made a speech in the conference. He asked a few questions to the Chairperson of the French Falun Dafa Association and was satisfied with the answers.

The conference participants had an opportunity to be personally involved in a question-and-answer session about Falun Gong. They were no longer puzzled by the fabricated lies and propaganda from the Jiang regime.
