France is one of the European countries with the most profound traditional culture. Though it was damaged in several wars, Paris can still be regarded as the most perfect place in the world to see traditional art. Paris is home to the supreme elegance of Versailles Palace, the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame and the Eiffel tower. These heritage locations are all part of French history and, every year, thousands of tourists come to visit them.

In May 1995, the respected founder of Falun Gong, Mr. Li Hongzhi, accepted an invitation by the Culture Department of the Chinese Embassy in France to go to Paris to teach Falun Gong. Since then, Falun Gong—a cultivation system based on the principle of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance”—has increased in popularity in France and abroad, and is now practised by over a hundred million people in eighty countries.

Tourists in France will often encounter practitioners handing out leaflets and demonstrating the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. There is a weekly Falun Gong activity at the Human Rights Square under the Eiffel Tower where practitioners go to help people learn more about Falun Gong and the human rights abuses against the practice by the Chinese Communist Party.

In this beautiful country, from the south to the north and the east to the west, there are Falun Gong exercise practice sites in over twenty cities. At these sites, people can learn the practice for free and practitioners meet to regularly practise the exercises as a group. They also expose the unfair treatment and persecution happening in China at the hands of the dictatorial Chinese communist regime.
Throughout the years that Falun Gong practitioners have been suffering persecution, French people have always showed their support for the practitioners. Thousands of petition signatures have been collected and many declarations of support from government officials have also been received.
