Sweden: Protesting Outside the Chinese Consulate General in Gothenburg to Mark Seven Years of Persecution

Falun Gong pracitioners from Gothenburg and nearby places protested outside the Chinese Consulate General on the 20th of July. Local Falun Gong pracitioners meet outside the Chinese Consulate in the morning on weekdays to appeal for an immediate stop of the cruel persecution that is still going on against Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Seven years ago, on 20th July 1999, this persecution was officialy initiated by the Chinese regime. During the Sweden protest, Falun Gong practiioners distributed a special flyer that revealed the background of the persecution. Falun Gong is a qi gong method for body and mind that became very popular in China. The enormous popularity made the previous head of state Jiang Zemin see the big number of practioners as a threat against his position of power. Even if Falun Gong doesn`t have any political goals or ambitions, can everything that is practised by a large number of people and have a spiritual nature be seen as a threat by the Chinese Communist Party who try to have absolute power monopoly over the Chinese people. When Jiang Zemin officialy started this persecution the 20th of July 1999 his order was: "Destroy their reputation, ruin them economically and destroy them physically." This was done by torture, brainwashing and propaganda. Today there are about 3000 documented death cases of pracitioners by persecution. But this number is probably only the top of an iceberg. It is very difficult to get information from China because of the enourmous block of information.

The flyer also informed about a horrible discovery that has recently come to light: organs are taken from live Falun Gong pracitioners. It was in March this year that a Chinese journalist exposed a concentration camp in Liaoning Province. The journalist said that "Falun Gong pracitioners are killed for their organs, which are later sent to medical institutions. It is publicly known that China since a long time back sells organs from executed prisoners. The flyer also informed about an independent 45 page report about organ harvesting form alive Falun Gong pracitioners and was published in the beginning of July by two Canadians, David Kilgour, previous member of parliament and secretary of state and David Matas which is a human rights lawyer. Both of them draw "the unfortunate conclusion that the allegations are true".

During the protest, many people accepted flyers and saw our banners that called for an immediate stop of the persecution. With this protestwe also wanted to say from our hearts to staff working at the consulate: "all people have to listen to their own conciences. This enourmous cruel persecution must immediatly stop. The responsible people must be brought to justice. The organ harvesting that is happening where Falun Gong pracitioners are killed for their organs can't be tolerated by any human being with some concience left."
