Mr. Liang Jianguo and His Wife Ms. Shen Luoling Sentenced to Forced Labour

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liang Jianguo and his wife, Ms. Shen Luoling, are residents of Yiyang City, Hunan Province. Mr. Liang Jianguo has been persecuted for many years. In September 2003, shortly after he was released from more than two years of forced labour, Mr. Liang was arrested and detained without warrant at the local police station. Local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) political and judiciary secretary Li Changsheng, officers Li Chaojun and Mo Xiongwei, and others from the local police station beat Mr. Liang, handcuffed him, hung him, and beat him again. For more than a week, Mr. Liang was handcuffed to a window frame and deprived of sleep. While beating Mr. Liang, Li Changsheng said, "There is no such thing as excessive treatment for you Falun Gong. You can neither file a lawsuit nor appeal because nobody dares to take your cases. If you were beaten to death, your case would be viewed as a suicide."

On August 18th, 2004, Mr. Liang Jianguo, Mr. Lei Jingxiong, and Mr. Li Ziran were arrested at their home near a train station in the Tianxing District, Changsha City by the Tianxing District Domestic Security Section. Mr. Liang was detained for 15 days.

Before the persecution began, Mr. Liang ran a barbers shop. After his arrest, his wife, Ms. Shen Luoling, took over the shop. Although Mr. Liang suffered much harassment due to the persecution, his endurance and compassion touched Ms. Shen and she saw the beauty and solemnity of Falun Gong. Gradually, she became a practitioner.

Mr. Liang was arrested on August 2nd, 2008 in the Hexi Area, Changsha City, Hunan Province. His daughter, who is not a practitioner, was with him. She too was arrested, but was released 15 days later. Mr. Liang was sentenced to 4 years in prison, and is jailed at the Wangling Prison in You County, Hunan Province. Ms. Shen was arrested in Yiyang City on August 5th, 2008. She was sentenced to a year of forced labour, and is imprisoned at the notorious Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp.
