At 9:00 a.m. on April 25th, 2009, approximately eight police officers and other Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel broke into Ms. Qian Yuhua's home in Baogangsan Village, Baoshan District, Shanghai. They claimed that they were there to examine the permanent registered address. A few strong officers headed straight for Ms. Qian, held her to the ground and handcuffed her.
Ms. Qian Yuhua's daughter-in-law was in shock until the police were about to take Ms. Qian away. Although her daughter-in-law had never practised Falun Gong, she saw from her mother-in-law the benefits of Falun Gong and the compassion of practitioners. She instinctively held on to her mother-in-law to prevent her from being taken away. The police grabbed her barbarically, then handcuffed and arrested her when she continued to prevent them from arresting Ms. Qian. The police were afraid that the neighbours might be alarmed if the two women protested the arrest loudly, so they covered their mouths with plastic bags. Part of their noses were also covered, making it difficult for them to breathe.
Ms. Qian Yuhua was taken directly to the Baoshan District Detention Centre. Her daughter-in-law was detained at the police station for one day and charged with obstruction of justice.
After the two women were taken away, the police ransacked the home while no one else was present.
Ms. Qian Yuhua, 65, has practised Falun Gong for ten years. Her body became healthy and her spirits elevated after she began the practice. She became very compassionate and her neighbours liked and respected her.
According to insider information, because Ms. Qian Yuhua has distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, the Shanghai police and CCP personnel were already following her, waiting for an opportunity to arrest her. According to witnesses, there were three innocent people taken away by the police that day from Baogangsan Village.
According to trusted sources, on April 25th, 2009, a family of three living on Meipu Road, Baoshan District, including Mr. Ying Zhiming, Ms. Zhang Xiufang and Mr. Ying Yeqi was also arrested by the police. This family is currently detained at the Baoshan District Detention Centre.
