Haihui, a 9-year-old girl in the Heping District, Shenyang City used to have a happy family, but this family has been torn apart as a result of the persecution of Falun Gong.

Haihui, father Guo Jian and mother Gu Chunying

Both of Haihui's parents practise Falun Gong. On August 16th, 2008, five or six policemen, including Liu Fuchen from Xinxing Police Station in Heping District, took away her father Guo Jian, who was a taxi driver. On September 16th, 2008, policeman Liu Fuchen and his cohorts came again and took away her mother Gu Chunying. As a result, Haihui has to stay with her elderly grandma, and they are both barely getting by with great difficulty.

Haihui's parents are still being held in the detention centre. On March 23rd, 2009, the Heping District Court of Shenyang City staged a trial in which only one relative of theirs was allowed to witness the trial. No other relatives were allowed to enter the courtroom.

On August 16th, 2008, Guo Jian was arrested by police from the Xinxing Police Station in Heping District. On the same day, seven to eight policemen, including Liu Xiangdong from the National Security Team of Heping District and Liu Fuchen from Xinxing Police Station in Heping District, tried to break into the home of Gu Chunying, but Gu Chunying refused to open the door. Gu and the police were in a stand off for over five hours. When Gu's brother-in-law, her aunt and her father arrived, the police had already knocked down the door and ransacked her home. Gu Chunying managed to escape during the process. In September 2008, Gu Chunying returned to her home. One day at around 7 a.m., Gu Chunying was arrested by police from the Xinxing Police Station of Heping District while she was on her way to drop off her child at school.
