Five Practitioners in Cang County, Hebei Province Were Sentenced

On May 8th, 2009, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court in Cang County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners. Pu Jinfeng was sentenced to six years, Zhao Junfeng five years, Zhang Kanzhong four years and six months, Li Bing'an four years, and Liu Rujun three years and six months. At the beginning of March, 2009, Cang County Procuratorate made up charges and sent this fabricated case to Cang County court. The court then set a trial date for March 24th.

In spring of 2008, in the name of Olympic games, Zhou Linhua and Yan Xiuwei from the National Security Team in Cang County Public Security Bureau arrested Zhang Kanzhong and Zhao Junfeng from Nanbei Village. They also arrested Liu Rujun from Liuchang Village, Li Bing'an from Tianzhuangzi Village, and Pu Jinfeng from Pumatou Village at the end of last year. Several practitioners from different areas were reported to the 610 Office¹ in their province by people from the Public Security Bureau in Cang County. The group arrests led to bonuses for the officials who made the false accusations.

The practitioners were persecuted many times are:

Mr. Pu Jinfeng, 40 years old, from Pumatou Village, Gaochuan Township, Cang County. He was arrested in December 2001 while practising the Falun Gong exercises on Tiananmen Square. On April 9th, 2002 he was sentenced to a forced labour camp for three years by the Cangzhou City Forced Labour Administrative Committee. On August 18th, 2008 he was released from custody by Cang County Procuratorate. On January 15th, 2009 he was once again arrested by the Cang County Public Security Bureau.

Ms. Zhao Junfeng, 59 years old, from Nanbei Village, Gaochuan Township, Cang County, and is a retired teacher. In 1997, she started to practise Falun Gong. On October 30th, 2000 she was detained for 15 days by Cang County Public Security Bureau. On July 9th, 2008 she was detained again. And on August 15th, she was released from custody by Cang County Procuratorate.

Mr. Zhang Kanzhong, 40 years old, from Nanbei Village, Gaochuan Township, Cang County, operates an car salesroom. In 1998, he started to practise Falun Gong. On August 15th, he was released from custody by the Cang County Procuratorate after a period of detention.

Mr. Li Bing'an, 48 years old, from Tian Village, Cuierzhuang Town, Cang County. He started to practise Falun Gong in 1996. He was arrested in December 2000 when he went to Beijing to appeal. On December 11th, 2000, he was sentenced to a forced labour camp for a year by the Cangzhou City Procuratorate. On July 12th, 2008 he was detained by the public security bureau in their county. On August 15th, he was released from custody by Cang County Procuratorate.

Mr. Liu Rujun, 43 years old, lives in Liuchang Village, Dachu Rural, Cang County. On May 28th, 2002, he was sentenced by the Cang County Procuratorate to three years to four years of imprisonment. On March 31st, 2004 he was arrested according to the sentence. On July 12th, 2008 he was detained by the county public security bureau. On August 15th, he was released from custody by the Cang County Procuratorate.
