Ms. Cheng Hua was employed as a veterinarian at Dongguan Street Administration Office of Xixiu District in Anshun City, Guizhou Province before she retired some years ago. She practised Falun Gong and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to improve herself. She refused to renounce her practice, so officials at the Dongguan Street Administration Office suspended her pension for more than seven years. This resulted in financial hardship for her. Currently she can only make ends meet by collecting garbage.
Ms. Cheng Hua benefited a lot from the practice of Falun Gong, but was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for an extended period of time. On many occasions during all these years, she had been arrested by the police, detained, sent to brainwashing sessions, imprisoned, and more.
On July 23rd, 2001, Ms. Cheng Hua distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong to her fellow villagers. She was reported to the authorities. A gang of policemen barged into her house to ransack her things. They arrested her and incarcerated her in Heishitou Detention Centre for 110 days. Two thousand Yuan1 was extorted from her before she was released.
At that time, Li Lin, deputy head of No. 1 Section in the Xixiu District Police Department (currently called the Domestic Security Team) said some words that defamed Falun Gong. He also threatened her child, who was so frightened that she cried. As the child believed the lies and poisonous words of Li Lin, she left home and has not returned for several years.
On January 2002, Ms. Cheng was arrested and incarcerated at a brainwashing class for 38 days. In the same year on April 29th, the police hoodwinked her to Heishitou Detention Centre and incarcerated her there for two years. Later, in order to meet a quota, they gathered a stack of materials and subjected her to three years of forced labour. Later they locked her up in Yangai Prison.
There was no one to take care of her house, and burglars came and took everything. Her mother, in her 80s, had no one to depend on and had to go around living off relatives and friends.
On June 20th, 2008, the CCP used the excuse of the 2008 Olympic Games and once again arrested Cheng Hua, taking her to Maomaodong Dam management office where she was persecuted for 34 days. Thereafter someone frequently came by to harass her.
The persecution resulted in the the break up of Cheng Hua's family. Her husband could not withstand the pressure of the persecution and thus divorced her. Her child was threatened by the police and was so frightened that she has not dared to come home since.
