Nine Practitioners Arrested in Binxian County, Heilongjiang Province

Prior to China's National Day on October 1st, 2009, police officers from Binxian County, Helongjiang Province arrested nine practitioners within two days, and they were held in the No. 2 Binxian County Detention Centre.

At 7:00 p.m. on September 28th, 2009, four police officers from the Binxian County State Security Bureau, along with Lou Wei, head of the Changan Town Police Station, and other officers from Changan Town Police Station, drove to the Dawang area of Daxing Village, Changan Town, Binxian County. Their cars had no registration plates and parked just outside of Dawang area.

They then quietly entered Dawang and broke into Ms.Yao Chunrong's home, where practitioners had gathered to study Falun Gong teachings together. The police arrested Ms.Yao, Ms. Cao Guozhen, Ms. Wang Xiuyun, Ms. Min Fang and Ms. Qu Zhangjian. They also confiscated Ms. Yao's personal belongings, including Falun Gong books. All practitioners were then taken to the No. 2 Binxian County Detention Centre.

At approximately 10:00 a.m on September 29th, Zhang Chunhui, a police officer from the Minhe Town Police Station of Binxian County, went to Mr. Wang Huanling's home, in Yangjiagang Village, Minhe Town, where Mr. Wang and six other practitioners were studying Falun Gong teachings together. Mr. Wang tried talking to Zhang Chunhui about Falun Gong, but he refused to listen and confiscated Mr. Wang's personal belongings, including informational materials. Zhang Chunhui then phoned Wang Huibo, head of the Minhe Town Police Station, and Wu Zhiquan, the political instructor at the Minhe Town Police Station, and they both went to Mr. Wang's home and arrested him and the other partitioners there. The practitioners were then taken to the Minhe Town Police Station.

Officers from the Binxian County State Security Bureau went to the Minhe Town Police Station to interrogate each practitioner. They forced two older practitioners to write a guarantee statement to give up practising Falun Gong and extorted 1000 yuan¹ from one of the practitioners' family and 2000 yuan from the other practitioner's family, for their release, but Mr. Wang, his wife, Mr. Li Shuwen and Mr. Zhang Jun were taken to the No. 2 Binxian County Detention Centre.

The above named nine practitioners are being held in the No. 2 Binxian County Detention Centre. Their families are requesting their release.
