Ms. Wang Huijun, a Falun Gong practitioner and resident of Beian City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested and sent to Beian Detention Centre after she told people the facts about Falun Gong in Shengli Village in mid-June 2009. In late July she was sent to Harbin Forced Labour Camp for a term of one-and-a-half years.
Ms. Wang is 58 years old. Before she started cultivation in 1998, her physical condition was not good. Pains in her leg were especially torturous. After becoming a practitioner, she became healthy both physically and mentally. She strictly followed the requirements of Falun Gong since she began practising. She never worried about personal gain or loss, and she worked diligently. At home, she was a good wife and a loving mother. Even though her husband was physically abusive, she never changed her mood. She often laughed it off. Before she was arrested, her husband had a stroke. Due to her meticulous care, her husband recovered very well.
In 2001, Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal on Falun Gong's behalf. She was arrested at Harbin and money was extorted from her. On New Year's Day, she was sent to Beian Detention Centre without justification by the 610 Office1, an organisation specifically set up to suppress Falun Gong. In order to resist the persecution, she went on hunger strike and was near death after six days. She was then released.
Note
1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
