Ms. Jiang Nan was arrested on August 7th, 2009, while she was distributing materials about Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. She was taken to the Deyang City Mental Health Centre, where she was forced to take large doses of unknown drugs for almost four months.

Ms. Jiang, 39, a teacher at the Deyang No. 2 Middle School, began practising Falun Gong at the recommendation of her ex-husband, Peng Haibo. After she became a practitioner, her sinusitis, dermatitis, and eczema all disappeared. Her husband stopped practising after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. He also forbade his wife from practising, and he hit and kicked her whenever she did the exercises. He also destroyed her Falun Gong books. Since Ms. Jiang was unable to do the exercises at home, she would do them in the school where she worked. When the school officials and teachers found out about it, she was suspended and a confession was extorted from her.

In 2008, her husband divorced Ms. Jiang after discovering that she had spoken out for justice for Falun Gong to a fellow teacher. She suffered an emotional breakdown and was suspended from her job and was told to stay home and have her illness treated.

Despite the brutal persecution, Ms. Jiang quickly overcame all difficulties and persisted in clarifying the facts and talking about the goodness of Falun Gong.

On August 7th, 2009, an informant reported Ms. Jiang to the police while she was distributing informational material in Longqiao, Deyang City. The police arrested her, broke into her home, and took about a dozen Falun Gong books and other personal items. They handcuffed her in the presence of an official from her school and took her to a mental health centre against her will. The police told the officials at the mental health centre that she could not leave the hospital without the permission of school officials. They also told her that she would be given a criminal sentence if she continued to practise Falun Gong. Her school principal said that Ms. Jiang had to admit that she suffered from mental illness in order to avoid a criminal sentence.

In the mental health centre, Ms. Jiang was forced to take many unknown drugs. Several people tied her to a bed or a chair and forced her to ingest them. She was tied her to a bed or chair for prolonged periods and did not receive proper care. She soon became emaciated .

In November of 2009, Doctor Zhou of the mental health centre told Ms. Jiang's family that she was well enough to be discharged from the hospital, but her school supervisor was required to pick her up. Ms. Jiang's family contacted director Wei of the Deyang City No. 2 Middle School, but he did not go get her from the medical centre. Ten days later, Ms. Jiang's family again asked Wei to get Ms. Jiang from the hospital. Wei replied that he would go to the hospital before the end of the week.

A plea is being made to all people of justice to join efforts to stop the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and rescue the hundreds of thousands of good people like Ms. Jiang Nan.
