Your excellency,
Kindly take some moments of your precious time to read a very urgent message. The brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China has concerned many people in the democratic world. I therefore beg your Excellency bring up the persecution during the coming visit of the Chinese president Jiang Zemin.
Falun Gong is a peaceful, spiritual practice without any political agenda. Yet the Chinese President Jiang Zemin banned the practice on July 20th, 1999. After almost 3 years we have documented at least 415 deaths by torture or other abuse, over 100 000 illegally arrested and detained, more than 500 sentenced to prison terms of up to 18 years and about 1,000 forced into mental hospitals.
Most analysts attributed the ban to the popularity of the practice, the exploitation of Falun Gong a scapegoat by Jiang Zemin and totalitarian paranoia. In fact practitioners are good people who do traditional qigong exercises to stay healthy and believe in the principle of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, which is the basic nature of the practice.
The Chinese mental hospitals use various inhuman “treatments” on Falun Gong practitioners, including physical torture, relentless psychological abuse, and the illegal administration of sedatives and anti-psychotic drugs, which has been condemned by World Psychiatric Association.
Please do not be deceived by propaganda machinery of China
that uses its state-owned media and many government agencies to fabricate lies about Falun Gong both in China and abroad. The Governments of many European countries, Canada, Taiwan and United Stated have expressed concern. Recently the European Parliament urged China to stop the persecution of Falun Gong.
On behalf of Falun Gong practitioners in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland, I beg your Excellency and the Government of the Republic of Lithaunia to help us resolve the situation in a peaceful way. In doing so the lives of many innocent people can be saved and another tragedy avoided.
