Ms. Wei Chonnai, 59, lives in the Jinpushan Coal Mine Family Compound, Zezhou County, Shanxi Province. On January 6th, 2010, she was transferred to the Shanxi Province Women's Prison (also known as the Maoerling Prison) from the ZeZhou County Detention Centre.

Ms. Wei was arrested on July 25th, 2009, for distributing Falun Gong fliers in Lailing Village, Shanhe Town, by officers from the Yadao Police Station. Officers from the Zezhou County Police Department and the Nan Village Police Station, as well as staff from the Security Office of the Jinpushan Coal Mine searched her home that afternoon and seized her Falun Gong books and other property. Ms. Wei was first detained at the Jincheng City Detention Centre and then transferred to the Zezhou County Detention Centre a month later.

In October 2009, the Zezhou Court secretly tried Ms. Wei. The court secretly sentenced Ms. Wei to three years in prison on November 3rd, 2009. When Ms. Wei's family finally got the news, the deadline for requesting an appeal had already passed. On January 6, 2010, the family went to the Zezhou County Detention Centre to visit Ms. Wei, but she had been transferred to the Maoerling Prison in the early morning, before 6:00 a.m.

Ms. Wei was imprisoned in a forced labour camp for eighteen months in 2004 for distributing Falun Gong fliers.
