April 25th, 2010 was a special, memorable day. Falun Gong practitioners from Southern Ontario, including the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton and London gathered at the University of Waterloo to hold a Falun Dafa experience sharing conference. Twelve practitioners shared their cultivation experiences and their understanding in validating the Fa and doing the three things in different Dafa projects. The following is a summary of several of the practitioners' sharings.
Mr. Liu was the first speaker. He shared how he introduced the Shen Yun performance to his colleagues and supervisors in his workplace. Mr. Liu discussed how he helped people appreciate the beauty of the Shen Yun performances, which led to support for and sponsorship of the shows.
Dan talked about his improvement in cultivation through reading Master Li's new lectures during the six months that he stayed in Waterloo. He also shared his experience of the mighty power manifested in promoting Shen Yun shows and ticket sales after he studied the Fa well and sent righteous thoughts. He also found that he should not have prejudice against others, but rather that he should be compassionate, so as to offer people salvation.
Ms. Fei told of her experience of making phone calls to people in mainland China to help them learn the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. Over the course of more than two years, she has persistently made phone calls to China for over two hours per day. She talked to officers in prisons, forced labour camps and police departments. Ms. Fei related that at first, she was so afraid that she trembled, but gradually she built up her confidence and could naturally show her compassion. She was able to move the hearts of many people.
Mr. Wu analysed his twelve-year journey of cultivation practice. He found the reason for his change from being diligent to becoming passive and not being able to actively keep up with the process of Fa-rectification. It was mainly because he studied the Fa as if he had to complete a task. He hopes that through sharing with fellow practitioners, he can be as diligent as he was at the initial stage of his cultivation.
Ms. Hua shared her understanding of Shen Yun performances and how she worked full-time and joined in preparing for the Shen Yun performance. She talked about her personal understandings on how to do better in promoting Shen Yun and how she cultivated and improved through this project.
Ms. Zhang shared her experiences in mainland China and after she came to Canada. She said that she took a detour in her cultivation because of the persecution and the interference of emotions. She said that the lesson was terrible.
Mr. Tang talked about how he experienced different forms of hardships, and found where he had fallen short compared with other practitioners' selfless efforts and contributions. He also shared how he broke through his acquired notions and attachments through Fa-study during the preparation for the Shen Yun performance. He changed from a person who disliked talking to strangers and who was unwilling to ask for help, to a person who actively sold tickets and sought sponsors for the Shen Yun performance.
Mr. Liu and his wife each shared their experiences since they came to Canada two years ago from China. At the beginning, they could not find an appropriate job or decide on a suitable college major. They talked about how they overcame challenges in time, their business and family, and actively joined in group Fa study and promoting the Shen Yun performance, melting into the mighty current of the Fa- rectification overseas.
Retired professor Ms. Yang talked about how she changed and helped her non-practitioner family members learn the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. She also shared how she overcame different kinds of difficulties and distributed more than 17,000 flyers about the Shen Yun performance door-to-door, despite heavy snow and cold weather.
Ms. Liang shared how she listened to Master's teachings, regularly participated in and maintained weekly group Fa study and the outdoor group practice site. She sees bringing the music player and the display photo placards and truth clarification materials as a part of her life. Ms. Liang also shared how she and other practitioners were persistent in their daily group Fa study and doing the exercises in the morning. She further talked about how she got rid of her attachment to being unwilling to interact with others, and how she actively participated in coordinating the preparations for the Shen Yun performances.
