Gross Abuse of Falun Gong Practitioners at Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province

Many practitioners have been disabled as a result of the persecution carried out by officials at the Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province. Below is an account of the persecution of several practitioners detained at this labour camp.

Gao Yongjun Paralysed from Torture

Mr. Gao Yongjun, a practitioner in his 40's from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the local police and taken to Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in May 2008.

He was subjected to forced labour making car seat cushions starting in October 2008, and was repeatedly beaten for what officials deemed to be slow work. He was also forced to sit still on a small bench from 4:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Ward leader Shi Jian instigated inmates Sun Zhihai and Sun Maokun to closely monitor Mr. Gao and to beat him at will. Sun Zhihai slapped Mr. Gao in the face, kicked him, pulled him by the collar and dragged him off the toilet. Mr. Gao could not relieve himself for up to four days at a time as a result of the physical abuse.

In June 2009, Mr. Gao became permanently paralysed from the waist down from the abuse suffered at the labour camp.

Ji Xian'an Disabled due to Abuse

Mr. Ji Xian'an, a practitioner in his 30's from Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the local police and taken to Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in April 2008.

Guard Diao Xuesong beat him and threatened to extend his term for trying to explain the facts about Falun Gong to other inmates.

Mr. Ji developed numbness throughout his body and could not walk on his own as a result of the physical abuse endured at the labour camp. He was still forced to do hard labour until the end of his term despite his deteriorated physical condition.

Gao Zhenjiang Persecuted Daily for a Year

Mr. Gao Zhenjiang, a practitioner in his 40's from Baiquan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the local police and taken to Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in November 2008. Guard Shi Jian instigated inmates Fan Zhizhong, Ge Hongwu, and Yang Shiju to beat and verbally abuse Mr. Gao on a daily basis until his release a year later.

Li Congjun and Liu Gaofeng Currently Detained and Persecuted

Mr. Li Congjun, a practitioner in his 40's from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, is currently detained at the Suihua City Forced Labour Camp. He has suffered physical and verbal abuse, beatings, and an arbitrary extension of his term. Inmate Sun Maokun has frequently beaten him, and Mr. Li's physical condition has deteriorated due to the abuse. He is reported to be very weak, and not able to walk well or hold his head upright.

Mr. Liu Gaofeng, a practitioner in his 40's from Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the local police and taken to Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in October 2008. Inmates Sun Lifeng and Fan Zhizhong beat Mr. Liu under instigation from guard Diao Xuesong. On one occasion, Sun beat Mr. Liu on the head with a chair until the chair broke into pieces, causing Mr. Liu to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. Mr. Liu continues to be detained and abused in the labour camp.
